Thread: Be Good To Yourself - Part 1

Marie, would it be possible to count the golden syrup variety as a HEB and just add a syn number for golden syrup? Like Paula, I have boxes of it in the cupboard but no one in the family likes porridge[msnsad]

Great news - well done to your Jo for dropping a jean size, she must be delighted [clap][clap]

My incentive to reduce size is that I have a lovely skirt that is tight at the moment but I leave it in full view in the bedroom and every now and then try it on to see whether it is getting easier to zip up. It's amazing what an image of a bulging skirt can do for will power [msneek]

You have still 7 weeks to go Marie so think of all those lovely clothes you could buy [msnsmile]

no i'm afraid it's not possible to count it as a healthy B and add something for the syns, i think it's because there's not as much fibre in the falvoured packs, you can still eat it and just count as syns, personally for a late night snack i would say it's worth the syns if you have them

Jo's not the slightest bit interested in going down a size, she's never been bothered with her image, i suppose it's one of the things i could say i'm thankful for about her disability, but i'm not i'd love for her to be like every other image obsessed teen [msnsad] she is more of a if needs to be comfortable and have the right feel sort of person when it comes to clothes, it's the scratchy seams and labels that really bother her

Julie and Mizzy, hope your weigh in is not too bad as I am sure by now you will both be back on track. Think of your upcoming holidays and your dreams and goals for yourselves.

Brenda, the book Julie recommends is a must. I look at it frequently.

We have been in Birmingham with hotel food again since Friday lunch. Did have a couple of fruit sald deserts but most other things were syns. I have not dared to get on my scales this morning as it gets me down if I return with a gain. I will try to wait a couple of days as by then the extra lbs may be reduced as I am seriously on track for 4 whole days before the next onslaught of meals I am not in control of.

    Pam, the chocs sound lovely.[easter1]

Brenda don't take this personally but i have some suggestions with your food diary, trying to help as i'm very woried about you

personally i still think you eat too little, the food diary above is that red or green? it seems to be neutral

so here goes, lets take a closer look at this diary

    oats so simple healthy B?
milk needs to be 250ml semi sk to be counted as a healthy A
cheese 42gm reduced fat to be a healthy A
ryvita multigrain, i'm not sure where you are counting these in? is it a B and if so are you having the correct amount stated in your book?
mackerel is a free food on red so no need to weigh or count as syns and this would make you day a red one
banana, mixed leaf salad, fruit salad and muller all free food so that bit all ok

i think you are setting yourself up for failure if you think you can lose more by eating less especially so of the recommended amounts that come as weights/ measures, looking at your diary there is simply not enough food and i get the impression that you are eating less than the stated amount to lose weight faster?

this is where Julie needs to step in and explain as she used to be exactly the same, you really need to eat the healthy A's at the amount stated as your body needs the calcium and the same with the B's your body needs the fibre, carb and protein for it to function, you cannot realsitically lose weight and expect to keep it off for the long term by eating those amounts

truthfully i'm not having a go here and i do not want to upset you but i would tell a friend exactly the same [grouphug][grouphug][grouphug] but if you do continue this way once you step off the plan after eating so little all your effort will be in vain as your body will rush to put it all back on again

does that make sense? i really hope i haven't upset you it's so hard when you are not face to face [grouphug]

Mizzy, well done on your little loss. Every little helps.

Brenda, I too have been concerned about your intake of such a small amount of food but am not experienced enough to give you the advice that Mizzy and Julie give. I do know though that you definitely seem to be really trying but not quite getting it right. It does take ages and that is why staying to the 'boring' class is a must even if you only pick up one tip per week, it all helps. If you are trying so hard, I am worried that you will think the SW plan does not work, when in actual fact it does but you need to eat more and get more nourishment, or you will eventually give up.

Why not phone your 'boring' SW consultant up during the week and explain your difficulties and can she help you. Just a thought.

    Good luck everyone.
