Thanks for clarifying my understanding of Slimming World Julie, I had thought it was like Weight Watchers - whoops[msneek] I may see if there is one near us and perhaps see whether I can get hubby to go along with me.

Hi girls -I know its been ages since I posted but things have been hectic as we have moved having decorated the new house from top to bottom before hand and doing up a house we bought as a buy to let -then came christmas and all that brings and now I have to go to Bristol to celebrate my Dads 90th the get ready to go to Florida on the 7th -luckily the BAA strike has been called off otherwise I would not have been a happy bunny.
Anyway I have been catching up on all the news and following your progresses and think you really all deserve pats on the back for coming through some of the trial and tribulations.[clap][clap][clap][clap]

Brenda I can throughly recommend the SW way of eating to help your husband. When I started out on my SW journey august 2006 my husband thought it was all a load of tosh and it would never work .Well after seeing me lose 2 1/2 stone in 6 months - and staying there ever since - he decided that maybe it was worth a try so earlier in 2007 he asked if I thought it would work for him so after explaining that he would need to change some of his thoughts about what he ate and the ways it would be cooked he gave it a go and is now 3 st lighter and he say the same as I do you don't feel hungry following the plan and its is flexible enough to be able to have your favourite indulgence so once the mind set is correct the plan works and suits most people. My husband would never go to a class but I kept a food diary for him so he could see what type of meals he did better on-red or green- and also kept a record of his weight every week and now he is feeling the benefit of it all trouble is he is now the one saying he has nothing to wear as its all too big [msnsmile2]so he is hitting the shops in Florida next week not me .

I hope 2008 brings you all everything you desire and deserve and that your loved ones stay close ,healthy and happy.

Happy New Year to you all.

I have had a mixed last part of the year. Having had three months when I had no exercise because of my eye and also stopped going to SW classes I put on a stone. I returned to class in November and lost 7lbs, put 2.5lbs on over Christmas but after last night dread to think what damage I may have done. We had friends in and I drank and ate far too much including a fresh salmon mousse made with fresh cream and a delicious strawberry, cream and mereguine sweet.

There is also far too many goodies left in the house so I am going to have to be really strong and leave them for DH although he wants to loose a few pounds as well but he will have to finish all these goodies first. [msnwink]

I must loose a stone before we go on holiday, probably to Spain in March and then Florida in April/May.

Janny, that's a fantastic achievement, and is such a short time.[clap][clap]

It's good to know that SW it a place for vegetarians, Frances. I am probably not a strict vegetarian as I eat some fish but no meat, whether red or white, or eggs, the latter because I have an allergy. I love all cheeses, vegetables and pastas.

After the Christmas excesses, today, we have started in earnest. Gone is the frying pan and I bought a new steamer yesterday. Sweets are on ration and I have stocked up with lots of fruit.

hey hang on a minute Brenda you can still use a frying pan and a wok, using a good quality non stick pan is essential and if you switch your regular oil to fry light or use a small amount of olive oil it's a good healthy switch to make

i use my frying pan for big brekkies and i have a skillet which i use with fry light for chicken and roasted veggies, stir frying is great as you get lots of veg into you, stir fry prawns with a sweet chilli sauce is gorgoeus and one of my favourite meals

like you Brenda i eat very little meat, i love quorn sausages and the spinach and ricotta ones that are meat free from tesco, my all time fav dish is these sausages with baked beans and sw chips[msntongue], you can make a great fruit salad Brenda by using a small amount of diet lemonade or sugar free diluted juice as the liquid and sugar free jelllies are great for those with a sweet tooth[msnwink]

Janny and Jill, it's great to have you both back [clap]
