Looking at doing the cottage pie tonight from the comfort foods book, the topping is made with celeriac (which is celery isn't it) and turnip, neither of which I like. I was thinking of slicing a medium potato on top but can I with having a red day, or mashing a small potato and leeks together.....open to suggestions ladies.

Never thought about Quorn Julie,I had my butcher mince some very lean steak for me this morning.
Is anyone having problems getting free range chicken from anywhere, not seen any in ages and I love chicken.
Paula
for you Julieanne [grouphug] i'm certain you will have a loss next week if you stick with it, be positive[msnsmile]
Paula, i think celeriac looks a bit like a small white turnip? i use quorn mince or you could use the steak mince with mashed turnip as a topping adding some stirred in quark to make it creamier, if you want to use a potato as a healthy b on a red day you have to keep the skin on so no mash i'm afraid, the alternative is to cut it into thin circles and layer it like a hot pot, give it a quick spray with fry light and it should brown up nicely
just back from the hairdresser and i now have scarily short hair, i think my hairdresser got a bit scissor happy when i said chop the lot off, i meant 2" she cut nearer to 4" [msnoo] it is quite nice in a funky sort of way but not quite me, all i can say is it's a good job my hair does grow quick or else i'll be wearing a hat well into summer [msneek]
I decided not to put too much veg in with the mince but mashed carrots, parsnips and leeks and a bit of turnip for the topping. I really hope it tastes as good as it smells[msntongue]
In class yesterday one of the members said she made a pan of soup using butternut squash, parsnips, carrots and onion and blended it all added salt and pepper and said it was fantastic, I have all the ingrdients simmering in a pan now for dinner tomorrow.
