    Life on Hwy 27

Yes, there is life on the 27.

What a transformation since my last visit in January 2007.

Gone are the leaning telegraph poles, the mountains of earth etc.

The whole section of the 27 from the Hwy 192 going northwards to Orange Tree has a new 3 lane highway in both directions.

The new "Town Center" at Cagans Crossing is built and there are several new restaurants / Cafes / and small shops now open for business. Well worth dropping by there to see for yourselves, even the Christmas lights / decorations are up.

Much to the relief of villa owners Lowes DIY / Garden Centre is now open . They have things in there that I have never seen and have no idea what they are for .....DIY is not my strong point. My husband has banned me from touching a drill. He says I resemble a rampant, directionally challenged woodpecker. As for painting .....well, I dribble a lot ![msneek]

Chili's has opened on a lot in front of Lowes. The local Gas Station is even getting a face lift. In general the whole area is looking more attractive and offering more for visitors to the area.

I arrived on Thanksgiving Day and got through Orlando International Airport in approx 30 mins.
I stayed with LynneS at Southern Dunes that night as we had arranged to brave the Black Friday Sales together.
At 6am we were in Wal*Mart (we survived this [msnwink])and then back to the villa for breakfast. Refreshed, we then went down to Eagle Ridge Mall for some more sales shopping. The car park was full, but inside it was not too crowded so this was a pleasant visit.

On this visit I was able to meet several villa owners and members of this forum. Meeting up for meals in different places had a two fold benefit, one it enabled me to have company as I was on my own this visit and secondly I can now recommend these places to my guests.

I was also able to visit several owners at their villa. One owner even gave me a bag of citrus fruit from the trees he had planted in his garden.

What struck me most was the increadible facilities and service on offer to guests, making Private Villa renting great value for visitors wanting to stay in the Orlando area.

Visiting Florida late November / early December has a plus factor apart from the sales, you also get a good start to the Christmas Season. Lots of shops were decorated, christmas lights adorne the lamp posts, and the Theme Parks are dressed for Christmas.

I found a Church to attend on the Sunday Morning ( in the road opposite the Glenbrook entrance )

The weather was fantastic in the 80's and I was able to have some time relaxing on the pool deck. This was lovely, a chance to recharge the batteries after a busy and eventful year back in the UK.

I did battle with my suitcase on the return journey. Rescued by 2 American gentlemen who lifted my case into the trunk of the car.

Arrived back in the UK to freezing cold weather, torrential rain and gale force winds. The [u]perfect incentive to return </u>to the warm, sunny climate of FLORIDA.

Glad you had a great time, Linda!

Yes - that area of the 27 has changed so much in the 5 years we've owned.

It is now a thriving area and will change the perception of those who thought the 27 was too far out to stay!

With the new road to Disney it is now very close to the Attractions too!

"Disney West" is now looking excellent. We enjoyed our meal with you at Legends and hope to revisit at some time. The 27 itself is a joy, as you say, 3 lanes of new tarmac with plenty of cats eyes and great signage.

    Can't wait until April!!
    Regards, Mark

must admit, we went up on the 27 and could not believe what we saw, we always used the new walmart on the 27 just near polo park, we drove to the right when coming out of walmart and kept driving, the roads were so different from the last time we were up there, then heading towards florida pines where we stayed twice in the past the road is just so big and busy!! looks great! so different from 2002

I am glad you enjoyed your stay Linda and am so pleased to be one of the owners to meet you I haven't had a chance to look at your part of the 27, (four girls shops and all that) but love how our part now looks now. Pleased you all survived black Friday, I got to Eagle Ridge around 7 after a quick look in Wal Mart and the car park was still pretty empty. I came home when the car was full [msnwink]
