... and the elephant.

One day, the elephant was walking through the jungle enjoying his breakfast of leaves and grass when he stopped suddenly.

He'd heard something in the undergrowth so he listened a bit more carefully, his big ears twitching.

Yes, he'd definitely heard something, a sort of rustling and squeaking.

He looked everywhere around and finally spied a very small mouse on the jungle path in front of him.

The tiny mouse, terrified and shaking, looked up at the enormous elephant in awe.

He thought he'd better be polite to something so huge so he said "Good morning".

And then he thought he'd better say something else quickly before the elephant stepped on him so he said "You're awfully big".

The elephant looked down at the little mouse, squinting slightly as he was difficult to see because he was so small and said "Good morning. Yes, I am big but you're awfully small".

"Oh" squeaked the mouse, feeling a bit braver now, "Yes I am small... but I've been quite ill".
