That's good news for you then.
THanks for the advice- Will look into it further though its too late to change now.

I've done it several times, usually because you can save money on a trip that doesn't involve a Saturday night stay or where you have enough Frequent Flyer miles for a 1 way and want a seperate 1 way for the return or to fly on a different airline.
The only thing you need to remember is to have evidence of the return ticket with you when you check-in on the outbound (despite what you have been told). I've found it much easier where the tickets are issued by the same airline.
Incidentally, I do know of UK based people who buy return tickets FROM the US because they can often be better value. In that way, the 'return' becomes the outbound for the next trip (if you see what I mean). Of course they have to buy an initial 1-way to get started.
What you can't do is buy 2 returns with the same airline that overlap (referred to as 'nesting'). i.e. Use the first outbound, then use a US outbound as you first return and so on...
Thanks mind put at ease now. Never though of the return from the US before - Only problem is my trips are so far apart that dates wouldn't be out for return so soon.
Good Idea though

Allyjack ,I hope you have a great flight and a super holiday . My son flies out on Saturday to Orlando, he and some work collegues . They are going for a break and hopefully lots of flying lessons because its so much cheaper over there . He was quite annoyed because he is the only one of them who is familiar with travelling to Florida and he assumed they would book a villa or townhouse . He researched it and got some really good offers for that week ,but no the buddies only wanted to stay on International Drive( the only area they had heard of ) Now they are staying in some hotel , he knows they are paying more for less but there is no talking to some people. Its great to have Aer lingus back and by all accounts the flights are really busy , I look forward to taking a trip early in the New Year that is if Santa is in a generous mood. Have a ball. [lucky][lucky][lucky]

Thanks - going with my sister to our Annual Black Friday sales. Unfortunately she has 3 compressed discs in her neck and won't know until Monday if she can go or not. However I think I'll go it alone if necessary. Better than bringing a friend new to Orlando who can't shop at breakneck speed !!!

Alison,I just got a call from my son , they arrived safely in Orlando ,they picked up the car and they are now at their hotel in Buenavista, he is the main driver as he is the one who was there many times before . I was able to tell him they were 7 minutes late getting in , he said the flight was fine ,shorter than he imagined so Aer lingus are back in my good books .They were well looked after on the way out . Have a great flight on Monday , and may all your shopping be bargains!.

That is great feedback Olive - 7 mins is nothing.
Well just arrived. Flight was delayed going out by an hour due to airport holdup not Aer Lingus fault. My sister was Ok to travel and we got 4 seats between the 2 of us so she lay down whole journey except for eating. No immigration in Dublin - but flight landed at 4.50- slight delay offloading and were collecting luggage at 5.30- Immigration guy was so nice. Could have taken luggage on monorail but we gave it back cos of my sister and were waiting a while for it to come through again. Long queue at Dollar as Virgin flight had just arrive but sailed through with Dollar Express ( thanks guys !!) and were at villa at 6.40.
Going to rest now for the sales tomorrow !!!
