    Wii question

I'm sure someone here must know - will a UK-purchased Wii work OK in the US? The villa we've booked has wireless internet so we're hoping we could use the Wii to check opening times, book tickets etc.

Will the games display properly or are they specific to the TV region like DVDs?

We'll probably buy a laptop out there anyway (as long as the duty doesn't make it uneconomical - need to check on that) as we'd planned to get one for our daughter next summer anyway but it would be really nice if the Wii will give us internet access as well. It's also a lot smaller than a laptop for taking on as hand baggage!

    Thanks!

my son has a wii and he says he,s pretty sure it wont works as some of the games he bought in the u.s wont work inthe U.K , you could try calling where you bought it and ask if it is region free . on the subject of your laptop we bought one in the u.s for $450 and used it over there and were able to bring it back with no extra tax , we weren,t asked to declare it , but we did buy it for use in our villa also .

Thanks for that. Does anyone know for sure about the games? How about internet access? Is the different TV format a problem for the internet display, or is it just the games?

A friend has had real problems trying to set up their Wii for internet access, gave up in the end. If you are buying a laptop anyway, not a problem. A UK Wii will work in the US with a power adaptor but you will need british games also.

Mark, did your friend have trouble in the UK or the US? My son has his Wii set up to pick up our home wireless network here with no problem. A driver update today has given it partial USB keyboard functionality as well so he's in heaven!
