I rang around a couple of places in the week for some prices, and then Thomson were doing 1.96 and M&S were doing 2.01

M&S is usually the best place we find, you could also try the Post Office.

Travelex.com normaly offers a good rate.I have found in the past you can play one company off against another in the high street. Most times they will match if you push hard enough.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i got $1.976 in travelcare on the highstreet friday[/quote]Today I got $400 from an ATM(at Publix) with a Nationwide Debit Card and they cost £196.11 which is an exchange rate of £1 =
    $2.03967

So anyone buying their $400 in UK at £1 = $1.976 would pay £6.32 extra!!(assuming there were no extra charges)

Or putting it another way for the £202.43 paid in UK to get $400, with a Nationwide credit or debit card you would get an extra $12.89.

I cannot think why anyone buys US currency these days and doen't use plastic in the States.

The post office have good rates. Or you can buy Travelex online and collect at the airport. This is also a good rate.
