Dalmations are in the kennels: weekend days 4/5

    SATURDAY

Another chill day as I was expecting company tonight!

Just pottered around the place again and decided that I really should unpack the bags and bags of shopping, so an hour or so later I had sort of organised it all. Had a bite to eat and then popped round to see some friends for a natter and a cold drink on the deck.

A very pleasant couple of hours later I went back to the villa and decided to clean out a couple of cupboards (DEAD EXCITING I KNOW). Door knocker goes around 4 pm and SDJ has been for a little walk and made it round to ours. So yet again we sat and chatted for an hour and then I pottered some more then overdosed on the food network!

About 9 pm I decided I needed to go to Publix as I was expecting company for breakfast too! From Publix I left to go down to the airport to pick up my mystery guest. Arrived at the airport 20 minutes later but I was too early as I was awaiting an internal flight from Memphis which had just touched down so after cruising round a couple of times I decided to park up so I looked for the sun pass lot and in I went and parked up.

I then arrived into the airport to see my mystery guest just disappearing down the escalator so a gentle YELL later we were reunited and there he was………… Mr. CDV, I hadn’t seen him since 12 August so doubly nice.

Again his visit was a surprise to all our friends as he was not expected this trip at all. I get tons more time off than him so it is not unusual for me to come over a couple of times a year on my own. So after collecting the luggage, driving back to the villa and a quick pad round the villa it was almost midnight and a rather tired Mr. and Mrs. CDV retired to bed!

    SUNDAY

We woke to a rather nice and sunny Sunday morning and after breakfast we decided to go and surprise a few folks but Mr. CDV wanted to see the garden first! So for the first time since I arrived on Wednesday I went out onto the pool deck with him while he walked round the garden. We have a lot of wildlife around us and we were looking to see what was out there. All the usual suspects were spotted including our resident Sparrow Hawk plus a couple of colourful spiders who had taken residence on the pool cage, on the outside so we just let them do their thing. I love this morning feeling when it is sunny and it’s early and you have the whole day ahead.

As we had nothing too energetic planned for the day we went to visit our nearest friend but her hubby was at work and she was at home cleaning. Well she nearly died when she opened the door and Mr. CDV was there, (we had surprised them like this before a couple of trips back this year when I had arranged for the 3 of us to go to dinner and Mr. CDV turned up after we got there straight from the airport at Fort Myers). So we had a nice catch up with Linda and then decided we would call back later in the day and surprise Robby too.

Next port of call was SDJ. I rang the doorbell and when she answered Mr. CDV was standing just to the side of me so she got her second surprise from the DV household that week! Lots more catching up going on and then we decided lunch was the order of the day and we needed to go to Wal*Mart at Cagan Crossings for some parts for our American car back home.

Enroute we decided to divert to Bob Evans for lunch and drove up to Clermont but as we were arriving, we had literally just missed an accident on the other side of the road, not a nice one either a scooter with a middle aged guy on it had somehow been hit and he was lying in the middle of the 27 where the speed limit was 65 and it really did not look promising as is the way out here he had no helmet on, and Mr CDV being a biker himself had suggested from the position he was in it could have been fatal... well this knocked me for 6 as I was driving and I was in a right state when we pulled into Bob Evans, it happened just 100 meters from there. 911 hadn’t arrived and everyone was starting to come out to look.

A really lovely African American came out and was praying away out loud and saw me and she came over to

    a day of surprises

to witness an accident is never pleasant and can be quite shocking even if you see the aftermath
