still feeling sad about our hols

Well only 5 weeks & 5 days until we go on holiday and i am still feeling really sad about having to cancel our FLorida one.
I thought i'd be over the worst by now, but i'm not!!!!
On TV all i see is "Florida Holidays" advertised so i close my eyes and cover my ears. Then i keep hearing lots of people talking about Florida and booking for next yr. AHHHHHHHH!!!! Someone take me with them please!!!!!
I am an adult who should not be sulking about this, but i am.
I am acting like a big kid now who can't get their own way. Florida has done this to me as it was a fantastic place for me and i will have fond memories of this holiday.
I hope we can go next year. We are looking at prices, but until Hub gets a new job, we cannot book and won't chance doing so.
Deep down i wished we put the money aside for a holiday next yr, rather than booking to go to Canada instead.
Never mind. We need the break.
I hope i get over this feeling soon as i don't want to spoil the upcoming holiday for everyone else. Reading some more posts on here and others have had to do the same i see. I understand how they feel.
I've got it off my chest and feel better now.Stopped sulking and have given myself a good talking to.

although I love going to Florida. I wold thoroughly enjoy going to Canada as well, As I have never been and seen other peoples video's having a great time.

Please don't be miserable about not going to Florida. just think how much fun it will be when you do book to go again to Florida. Now isn't that something to look forward to. I would be making lists and lists of what is new that I have to do when I next go, imagine how many new things there will be to discover when you next go.

Chin up. go and enjoy yourself, you will probably find that Canada is a fab place too and what to go back time again anyway.

RF, we had to cancel our florida trip last year and had no holiday at all, big deal, it wasnt the end of the world, but we got through some personal problems and booked for the following year, here we are now, we saved for 2 years for this trip and looked forward to every single day of our holiday which we are enjoying very much,
hubby has said he would like to try somewhere new next year, he says he would like to try canada, so i would like you to let me know everything you can about it,i know nothing about canada and never wanted to go there before but am happy to try something new and different, i dont have a clue as to where the best places are to stay etc.......
i hope you enjoy your holiday but remember there are many many people out there who cannot afford holidays of any kind, you are sure to have a great time there and i dont think anything beats florida until you try it.... looking forward to your trip report.... hope you have a wonderful holiday xxx[grouphug]

Although you have had the disappointment of redundancy and cancelling your Florida holiday, I am sure you will feel much better when you get to see your family in Canada.

It's time to start looking at the glass half full rather than half empty.

To put it in perspective, many people have to cancel because of redundancy, they dont have the funds or the option of the chance of not only another wonderful holiday but to see family as well. If you approach Canada with the thoughts it is second best then you will never see the beauty of the place in its own right.

At the end of the day it would have been so much worse if you had to cancel because of losing one of your family as people have before and just look on this as an opportunity to spend more time with those who you will never be able to replace once they are gone, Florida will always be there. This is the time to think of the new memories you can create for your family with their other family further afield.

All in all, have a great trip to Canada and when you come back just get yourself a Florida fund jar and pop the odd pounds in there and you'll be surprised how quickly it will add up, then hopefully once hubby gets another job you can look forward to planning another trip.

Well we chose to go to Canada this summer instead of Florida. I love Florida, but we had reason to do something different and we loved it. Don't try and compare it - both places are great in their own ways, and I'm sure I will return to bith many times in my lifetime.

I know its hard , but you should count your blessings, as many have to cancel holidays for various reasons and don't have the option of another holiday as consolation prize.

Enjoy your trip to Canada, and start planning your next trip to Florida in your mind, whenever it turns out to be. You know you'll be back... it's just a matter of time.

I know i am very lucky to be having a holiday. We had gone yrs without one, but over the last few yrs we have had some lovely hols.
We just had it all planned, and with the whole uncertanty for the last few months, thought we had got to it.
We have been to Canada 3 times already snd i do love the country, the people are so nice and friendly. We do lots of travelling whilst there and get to see lots, but it's tiring after a while. It's gonna be cold too[msneek].
I am cheery (er).I just think that sometimes we are spoilt by things and there are no comparisons.
It's not my family we're visiting either (get on well with in laws)so it can be a little tricky witht he feeling we are intruding their space.
When we get back i shall give you an account of our trip.
We were actually going to look at moving there about 5 yrs ago so it must have something i really love, but won't realise until i am there again.
Chin is up, happy thoughts and feeling good.
Just got to get my list ready for things to pack, and will have nightmares about flying in a few weeks.
Not good on plane, i get all worked up, cry and embarrass the whole family.

    Hello again,

Went to bed after reading all your replies and what you all said really hit home, thank you. I think i have a very tired mind and the littlest thing sticks there.
Today i am feeling really happy and thought that this could be our last holiday for a while, so i want to make it a damn good one!
Hub & i have spoken about the things we would like to do whilst away, but i had forgotten about our ideas.
I am looking forward to our trip and know it will give us the time away that we all need to recharge our batteries.I truly mean this now.
We have decided to drive down to New York. We were there in 1997 and went up the WTC. Wow absolutly amazing. For me this is something i have wanted to do since 911.I can imagine it could be quite emotional
to revisit. Also Hub has promised to take me to a Native Indian
reserve. I love Native indians so this will be an experience.
Last, but most important, i can bring home a whole suitcase of Canadian cookies!!!! YUMMY.[msntongue]
    No more sadness now.
