Dalmations are in the kennels - Day 1

Well, shock horror here it is - a trip report for the first time in yonks..... maybe 2 years! Won’t bore you with every minute detail promise but as life is never dull in the DeVilla household who knows what tales I will have to tell in the upcoming 16 days!!

Had an uneventful journey to the airport(Manchester) Wednesday morning, didn’t rush as I had a PE ticket and there is never much of a queue around 8.30 am or so when I arrive. Even better when I arrived they checked me in at UC, so was away in minutes. “charmed” my way through the fast track “by invitation only” door so beat all the queues for security too! Boarded more or less first and settled in for the flight.

I was sitting next to a lady who lived in Winter Park ex owner and we had a really good laugh so hardly watched any TV or read as we just chatted and laughed our way through the flight. However as I say life is never dull.

Only the other day I was saying on the forum that I needed to make the effort and visit Canada and lo and behold 1 day later I got my wish. We ended up diverting to St Johns in New Foundland Canada due to someone falling ill! Only on the ground for about 90 minutes and could not get off but that’s Canada added to the list of countries on my travel map!

Arrived eventually into Orlando and picked up the car no hassles as I had booked with Alamo (through OV) as you can choose your own car and I wanted a particular model which I got, nowt fancy but not bad to drive Pontiac G6 GT. Dead fussy about car colour too can’t be red if I can help it, so got a nice metallic silver one so content on that score as well.

Ok next I am off to the villa, no hassles there but decided on a miniscule detour to Champions Gate to the Salon where I had a lovely deluxe pedicure with hot towels and all sorts of foot and leg massages, plus the massage chair it was also just what I needed after the flight. Had a bit of a French polish and design on the tootsies. Then I had my nails done so feeling a bit more human!

After the Salon I just grabbed a bit of fruit, some bread and iced tea from Publix and homeward bound I was as it was late by now and everything was shutting.

It was great to be back and I just padded around the place enjoying it then headed for an early night as a bit whacked by the end of the day as I had been up since 5.

People weren’t expecting me til Saturday so off to surprise a few friends tomorrow especially where sawdust and bananas is concerned ;+).

a great start Jacqueline, i think you should spill the beans on this fast track by invitation only door, where is it and what do you have to do to get invited through?[msnwink]

interested in the pedicure, i know the salon i had my nails done there on mothers day(uk) in march 05, i've never been brave enough to have a pedicure though as i'm extremely ticklish, will we be seeing photos of said fancy design[msnsmile2]

Mizzy, normally you need a fast track sticker to get through, which is given to premium passengers or certain frequent flyer card passengers, or of course OV VIP passengers [msnwink] !!!

What a perfect start to a working holiday

Well, Jacqueline certainly did not get sawdust and bananas when she rang my doorbell and totally surprised me, complete with the glue cleaning kit - see other thread.

The catch up lasted most of the morning and as I had nothing in the house, we ended up drinking water. SW here we come. You made a start J.[msnwink]
