Hi Liesa, yes if your phone works in Florida you can send texts but I'm with 02 and I think it costs about 50p per text if I remember right.

If it's tri-band phone it wont be a problem, if she doesn't know just post the name and model or google it.

Prices for texts vary with phone companies but when she switches it on the USA it will register to a local network and should message her with the costings - I know mine does but they may not all be the same. Mine is 25p but my husband's is 35p per text from the USA but more expensive from European countries. Either way what ever you do don't let her make calls, they are VERY expensive with the mobile - usually around £1.50 minimum and the same for every minute.

    Hi Leisa,

I am not 100% sure on this but I think your daughter may also be charged to receive texts as well as send them. Maybe she could check with O2 before you go.

You can sign up for the O2 international plan (cost £2.99 per month and you only have to have it for one month). It cuts the costs of both calls and texts but I can't remember by how much.
