Flying with baby

Does anyone know if you can take your push chair on the flight? I have been told that you can take it all the way through to the plane, then it gets loaded onto the hold.

Dillon is on his first outing to Florida in 3 weeks and we are just getting stuff ready for him.

Can you take pre made food (that is in a carton)?

Used to take my buggy to the gate and it would be waiting for me on arrival. I used to take my own (home cooked) food in containers which the crew would heat for me. They have some on board but your baby might not like them.

Check with your airline for the latest security info if you are unsure as security has changed since mine were babies. Many scheduled airlines will have info on their website.

They take the pram off you at the door Dom.

Re the baby food, I have seen people being made to taste it so you would need something to put the open carton in.

Checking with the airline is the best bet.

We went out in February with my then 8 month old grand daughter. We bought baby milk and food airside in Boots (flying from Gatwick) and this was ok, but we couldn't take the milk off the plane into the US.

The pushchair can be taken right up to the plane door and then they take if off you - a word of caution though, you don't get it back the same way (at least we didn't on our flight), you pick it up with your cases from the carousel - even a small baby can feel really heavy by the time you've lined up for immigration.

Hope you have a good flight - the air stewards were reasonably helpful, although they did heat the milk up to mega stupid degress and it took absolutely ages for it to cool down, so try to keep with them when they do this.

We have always got our prams when getting off the plane, whether this has changed in the past two years I don't know.
I wouldn't take a "Good" pram on a flight though we had one back 24 hours later than we arrived in Manchester and it was damaged beyond repair.

When they take the pram off you at departure gate they usually put it in a large bag, to keep it clean. On your return flight they don't always do this. So we always keep the bag to re-use ourselves on the return flight[msnwink]. It amazes me how dirty some of the un-bagged prams get on a flight[:O] and if its an expensive pram you would be rather annoyed.

Dom any baby food or milk taken through security needs to be tasted by you....not a nice experience Many years ago, I bought a very lightweight foldable (in half) buggy from WalMart, which was small enough to travel as handbaggage, might be worth a look because it can be a long walk if you don't get the buggy back on landing

I had to taste Maya's milk when we left from gatwick on 27th aug this year. We also had some other non opened milk cartoons with us (they are 200ml) but they let you thru it seems with baby food now (more so than in Jan 07). No problems what so ever on the us side upon landing or our return this weekend. I used jars on the plane not my home made food and as Maya can eat them cold i didnt get them heated up just the milk once I poured it into a bottle but watch the temperature they tend to over heat the milk a little I suppose the young girls we had on our flight had not had children themselves yet so didnt have a clue.
