    <span style="color:red">GREAT DANE [msneek][msneek]</span id="red">

Liesa these dogs are my all time fav dogs and I started looking into buying one before we got out border terriers. I found out they have a rescue center for great danes but I was talking to a man in the park and he was telling me you have to be really careful with their feeding as they need to be a little underweight till they have fully grown or it can lead to bone damage as they are so big. But the thing that made me decide to stay with terriers is all ours have lived till 14 to 16 years of age this man told me you would be lucky to get a great dane to the age of 10. Which really upset me. Really have a good read up on them before you go jumping in Mrs .

thanks Nikki, its all we have been doing all year, thought our sweet arnie wouldve been here a bit longer then he was, i joined a forum for great danes the beginning of the year and have met a lady from there who lives just over the hill from us, she has 3 beautiful danes, also met Tricias Murphy, hes a 7 year old great dane and a magnificent boy, we have really fallen inlove with this breed, so after our hols or possibly after christmas depending on when theyre born/ready to go we will get one, its so quiet here with no dog, as we have had dogs constantly for the last 25 years of our 28 years of being together its lonely, also now all our kids are off our hands and the little folks only visit once or twice a week it will be such fun!!
thanks again everyone who posted birthday wishes for me xxx[high5][high5][high5][high5][high5]

Glad you have really looked into it Liesa. The friend over the hill have you been in her house with the dog in? I know its a stupid question its just so you get a feel of what its like living with a dane in the house. CDV they are also my fav dogs. The black and white ones I just love them to bits. [msnsmile2]

yes Nikki, we have been over to hers several times but not lately cos of my knee, to unsteady
she has 3 of the beauties, 2 males and 1 female, had a topic in our local paper last bank holiday and pictured her with 2 of the dogs, she shows them around the country, lovely people and offering me much sound advice, Lauren has been grooming the dogs last time we were there, she loves them as do Steve and me, Russ likes them but is wary as he hasnt met them or knows nothing about them..... yet
heres 2 of their lovely dogs Nikki, we are doing our homework with this breed cannot afford to go in with eyes shut, they need a lot more then the "usual" types of dogs (mongrels as we're used to)
