Yet another lazy morning in the pool. Late afternoon, we decided we needed food so jumped in the car without a clue where we were going! All we knew was we fancied trying somewhere we had never been before.
After a bit of cruising up and down the 192, we decided to try Logans. I'm sure a lot of you have been there but for those of you who haven't, each table has a large bucket of peanuts still in the shell and diners are welcome to help themselves and throw the shells on the floor! Barney doesn't actually like peanuts but thought it was great fun taking on the job of opening the nuts for the rest of us and dropping the shells on the floor. I had a steak which was very nice, I can't remember what the others had but I know we all enjoyed it.
After Logans, I went off for another look around the shops while the boys played mini golf at Pirate Cove. As you can see I am the only one in my family who is interested in shopping!!
We rounded the day off with another quiet night in where I read a book and Alan and Sam played poker.
Thursday 30/8/07
Our last trip to Islands of Adventure today. We didn't get there until about 12pm and decided to try Bubba Gumps on City Walk for lunch first. I think it is quite new and is based on Forrest Gump. We were seated straight away and soon noticed 2 signs on the table - one read 'Run Forrest Run' and the other said 'Stop Forrest Stop'. The waitress explained that when we needed attention, we were to change it to 'Stop Forrest Stop' and one of the waiting staff would come and see what we needed. We had a lovely meal accompanied by a Forrest Gump trivia quiz courtesy of the waitress. Alan and I shared a combo appetiser which had nachos, shrimps, 'Hush Puppies' (which were similar to scampi and really lovely) and wings. I then had the pork sandwich (lovely), Alan had the 'Mahi Mahi' special, Sam had fish and chips and Barney had just fries as he had eaten at the house earlier. It was a really nice meal and we will definitely be going back there on our next trip.
After lunch, we headed straight to IOA where Alan succeeded in persuading Sam to go on Spiderman which he really enjoyed. Alan then rode The Hulk and Dr Doom but couldn't persuade Sam to give those a go! The lines were really small and we didn't wait too long for any of the rides. We then walked round to Toon Lagoon and all rode the Bilge Rat Barges where we got absolutely soaked (me most of all I think!) As the ride finished there was a technical hitch and we had to remain seated for about 5 minutes which was well worth it as we were each handed an express pass to be used on the ride of our choice.
With express passes in hand, we hotfooted it over to the Jurassic Park River Adventure. Sam's adventurous spirit was obviously waning as he didn't want to go on it so first I went on alone and then Alan. This has always been one of my favourite rides and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
Alan, Sam and Barney then rode the Flying Unicorns which Alan followed up with Duelling Dragons. On our very first trip to Florida in 1999, Alan had persuaded me to ride Duelling Dragons and I was physically sick afterwards so this was another one he had to do alone! The wait was only 5 minutes so he wasn't gone long. We then all headed round to Suess Landing where Barney and I rode the train while Alan and Sam had a drink. After the Caroussusel and 1 fish 2 fish, we all rode The Cat in the Hat which is one of Barney's favourite books.
By the time we came off there, it was 6.15pm and IOA closed at 7.00pm. As we still had 2 express passes left, Sam and I decided to ride Spiderman. After a final ride on Dr Doom for Alan, we headed back to the car stopping for ice cream at City Walk on the way.
Another trip to Walmart and it was then home for another quiet night in well aware that we only had a few days left.
