    Spiders

Now is it just me, or does there seem to be an awful lot more of those big, black, fat-bodied, fat-legged spiders around this year?

We have had to deal with more spiders in the last 3 weeks, than we have in the whole time we have lived here. Some of them have been ENORMOUS![msneek]

Apparently I read somewhere this week its the time of year for them. I got called into the living room on Monday by Neil and the girls to get the mother of all spiders (Neil is a complete arachnophobe) I have to admit it scared me, it was as big as my fist with thick hairy legs. But with the rest of them screaming what choice do I have but to deal with it, I just flicked it into a large jug with a piece of paper, put the paper on top and then released it at the far end of the garden. Daddy long legs are the other bain of my life at the moment!

    FLICKED IT!!!! aaaaahhhhhhhh![msneek][msneek]

My ED saw one of those big mother spiders in the cupboard under the stairs last week, which I (she says, DH she means!)haven't managed to get yet. We have had at least 3 since then but cannot be sure it's 'the one' as they don't answer to names!!!! So each time we have to go in there, we have the usual 'survey the area, check it's clear' routine with a torch to go through!

As for daddy long legs, otherwise known to me as flying spiders [msneek] we have been lucky not to have had any yet.....

Poor spiders! At least if you have spiders you are less likely to have flies . As they're all harmless in the UK I say live and let live. I do have to go next door occasionally though and rescue them from our neighbour [msnwink].

Heidi, I absolutely love your avatar. How do you get the pictures to change like that?

Is the spiders in USA or UK we are here in US and not seen any spiders so must be lucky .
Went to CELEBRATION on sunday and sat on the rocking chairs and got bitten by moquitoes it was at night so will spray next time .
They are worse than red ants as they itch .[msnmad]
But we love CELEBRATION so much will still go anytime .[msnsmile2]

Thanks, I have to confess I am not the technical one. My husband used our photos and put them together using a gif animation program. (I had to ask) Basically you put each photo and tell it how long to display for, then it moves to the next until it cycles back to the first.

It badly needs updating as the photos are old ones and the girls are now 8 and 5 eek! [msnembarrased]

In Florida we get the large spiders too. But ours jump! I fished one out of our pool, and the darn thing jumped back in! Also get cool horny spiders, called Spiney Orb-Weavers. They have little red horns all over their backs! Relly cool! And of course there are the Banana Spiders! Big yellow guys that stay on their webs.
The only spiders you have to be aware of in Florida, and the rest of the USA for that matter, are the Recluse Spider or Brown Recluse Spider. Their venom eats away fleash. Gross I know. And the Black Widow. It's bite isn't usually fatal, but will hurt!
Do a search online and you'll read all about them!
    Happy hunting!

Yes indeed, can't wait to take the baby to Florida! but nope no movement yet [msncry] I will be 40 weeks on Monday so it can't be too much longer! Everyone is waiting on me lol - even the lollipop lady on the way to school! By the way I forgot to answer your question about names. We have really struggled with boys names but we are thinking of Oren, after Oren Brown Rd which is near the villa in Chatham Park where we stayed erm 9 months ago lol [msntongue]
Still not 100% though, I want to wait until I see him [msnsmile2]
