SatNav Help Please

Hi everyone,

I need to buy a SatNav as I travel alot in my job. I am going to Orlando next Friday and I have seen a TomTom One on CircuitCity.com for 200 dollars. The cheapest I can find one here for is 140 pound. The only thing is I know nothing about these things. If I buy one in USA will it work ok over here. Or am I best off buying one here? I will need to use one when I am in Orlando as we are getting married there and I need to find the courthouse, hairdressers etc.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I know you can hire them from usacarhire but I cant see the point if i need to buy one anyway.

If you buy a satnav in the US, firstly it will only have the US maps, you will have to make sure you can update it with the UK/Europe maps, this is normally an additional costs.

I think it would probably be better if you bought your UK one here, and just hired one for when you are out in the US for the short period of time you will need it for.

You can certainly upgrade you UK one to have the US maps as well, but first check out the costs of the additional maps against only hiring one from usacarhire.

When we were in Florida July/August we purchased the TomTom910 from Best buy it can be used in USA and Europe, we also purchased for $25.00 Best Buy extended warrenty and were given a UK contact phone number which we can call if problems accur while under the Best Buy warrenty period.

I know this is taking this thread slightly off the topic but I bought a new Gateway laptop in Bestbuy at the Florida Mall in June and were told that the warranty would be void as soon as we took it out of the USA.
Does it depend on the manufacturer whether you get an international warranty or not[?]

As I say we purchased our SATNAV August this year which can be used in Europe and USA and the Best Buy extended warrenty we also purchased at the same time, definately does cover our SAtNAV TomTom 910 in Uk were we also given the information and phone number to use from UK. Laptop Computers I agree cannot get Best Buy Extended warranty if taking out USA we purchased a laptop a few years ago from them and was told the same could not use warranty if taking out of UK. The Best Buy Extended warrenty is not the manufacturers warranty.

I bought a Tom Tom 910 from ebay a few weeks ago that has all of Europe & USA maps on it, also it is a mp3 player.........it was only £224 and that included postage. It arrived within 2 days and the people that sell them seem to have an online shop. We used it in Florida over the last couple of weeks and found it great.
