I've missed the connnecting flight a couple of times from Atlanta, flying with Delta. It doesn't half stress you out whilst standing in the queue for immigration, watching the clock.

However, each time there were many, many people in the same situation. The staff just apologised and handed us boarding cards for the next flight. It's not really a big deal and I wouldn't change my flight time - you may well get it after all, and it would be exceptionally annoying watching your fellow travellers zooming off to Florida while you're left kicking your heels in the airport lounge.

Paula, I've only just seen your post, we use this very connection every time we go to Florida - (twice a year at least) and have never missed the connection - they quite often hold the plane as they are usually transferring at least 30 or so passengers - don't worry about it just get off the plana pdq and head straight for transfers (follow the purple signs) but they do have somebody directing you - this is the first International flight of the day into Washington so the immigration hall is always empty and as most passengers tend to be US citizens the queue for us is fine. Once through immigration it's only a few steps to baggage reclaim (literally) then you walk about 20 yards and drop your bags off with the guys that are waiting for you, straight up the escalators and off to find your Boarding gate then it's straight on the plane and away - once you arrive in Orlando - it's so quick as you've already done immigration etc - we always arrive in the baggage reclaim before the cases, so pop to the car hire desk first (usually leave a teenager waiting for the bags[msnwink]) from stepping off the plane to driving out of the airport usually takes us less than 30 minutes.

PS I forgot to mention that the fligt always seems to land in Washington earlier than advertised so that gives you a few extra minutes[msnwink]

Just to let you all know we made our connection ![msnsmile2]
We arrived in Washington with just 30 mins until our connecting flight to Orlando (plane from Heathrow was delayed 1 hour due to fog)we sailed through immigration and they held the plane as there were quite a few passengers on the London flight wanting the connection. Will make sure in future though that the timing between connecting flights isn't so tight [msneek]
