off in a couple of weeks and wondered if anyone knows a good place to buy an apple mac laptop ? can i use it in the u.k. ? it for my son who " needs " it , well at 16 you just can 't wait.....

The Apple Store is the best place. They are at the Mall At Millennia and the Florida Mall. They will work perfectly in the UK as they are dual voltage - all you will need is a plug converter.

Plus the warranty is world wide we know from experience[msnwink]

The staff are also really helpful in the shops. We use them a lot.

What is the price roughly of the APPLE laptop and as you say the warrenty is world wide .
Our laptop is getting old and has done its work for us .

Hi, Agreed, The Apple Store at the Florida Mall is the place to go. Absolutely fantastic shop. Tip: Register the warranty in store under your hotel/villa address (logging on to Apple.com whilst in-store doesn't allow for you to select a U.K. address from what I can gather however I could very well be wrong). Once you are back home you can log into your account and change the Country of residence from U.S.A. to U.K.

You can also pick up the UK part of the power adaptor on e-bay, if you look under Apple accessories.

I would buy Applecare for your new MacBook from the Applestore online in the UK, using your UK address and credit card. It will be available when you return, and you just need to go online and register then for applecare, and you will have peace of mind for 3 years.
