    $

should i purchase now or wait?

could have and should have purchased my $'s weeks ago when the rate was sitting at $2 to the £ but rather than having large amounts of money in the house we thought we would wait until nearer the time.

however with the rate plummiting should i buy now and cut the losses or hang on? we do not depart until the 27 september.

i know that this is a personal choice but what are others view's on this.

If only I knew the answer to this one!! The best advice I can offer is to ignore anybody else's advice and do what you think is best. You will be VERY lucky if you manage to always exchange when the rate is at its highest.

Incidentally, I don't think the rate is actually plummenting because, historically, the current level is still very good. It's strange how we always compare rates in terms of all time highs.

What goes up comes down, it also goes back up again too. Ah if only I had a reliable crystal ball[msnwink].

It's still an awful lot better than it was just a few months ago, as Katy's Grandad says you're very lucky if you manage to exchange on a high, something we've never managed to do [msncry].

It depends on how much of a gambler you are, whether you hang on in the hope it will go back up in time or just cut your losses and buy now. There are economic forces that drive the rates, for example another interest rate rise here should do the trick but on balance that would probably be worse long term than gaining a few cents short term. Also there is usually always something unexpected that happens to distrupt what has been predicted.

I wouldn't worry too much at the moment. You'll find your £ generally goes a long way over there. Just have a great time, which after all is priceless [msnsmile2].

Even if you get a lower rate here you will save lots of money if you wait and buy clothes and other things there take a case the weights a lot less tah the allowed weight .
Also eating out is cheaper there even McDonalds and you get gifts sometimes for the children .
Enjoy your holiday when you go .
