Not cancelling!! need info on Busch/Thanks giving

    Hello,

After lots of consideration after redundancy we have decided to go on our Florida holiday!!!!
Stupid i suppose, but we have had an awful yr so far and really need this holiday. We risked losing our deposit which we thought was silly too.We have 12 days to pay the remainder and agreed as a family that you live once, you never know what is around the corner and come 5th Nov when we were due to fly out we would all be miserable.
So my q's is this - last yr we were in Florida during Thanks Giving and the parks were a nightmare so we were wondering whether Busch is busy during this time aswell?
We thought that if they are maybe we could go to clearwater for a day and find other things to do. Is everwhere busy in Florida at Thanks Giving?
Can anyone give any info on this?
We are going to plan our itinary this week and are soooooooooo excited now that we know we are going. We wish it was now so we could all chill out.

    Thanks

    RF

    Hi Susan,

I cant really help with your question about Busche Gardens at Thanksgiving as we have never visited at this time of year, but I would think that everywhere in the US would be busy. Just wanted to wish you good luck on the job front and hope something turns up for you soon. We have recently been in a similar position with hubby out of work for 4 months but happily he now has a new job.

It is not being stupid going ahead with your holiday, I quite agree that life is too short and sometimes you are better just making the most out of every day as you do not know what is around the corner.

Good luck and have a great time in Sunny Florida.

It is only a mins drive over the bridge but well worth it not many tourist know about it .

A few years ago we had booked flights to go to Florida and 4 weeks before we flew Stuart was put on 'gardening leave' and lost his job. We still went and had a great time - just did not spend as much as we might have. There are lots of places to visit that are free or not very expensive and you can still have a fantastic holiday.

We hope you have a wonderful holiday and that your situations soon improves.

Congratulations on making your decision. Not an easy one but as you have already said; you would only be thinking of Florida in November. With a bit of luck another job will arrive soon.
    Regards, Mark

Good luck with the job search and have a great holiday....I am sure you have done the right thing [msnsmile2]
I think you will find all parks are busy over thanksgiving weekend, so if you don't like queues, then you might be better prebooking a meal and spending the rest of the day at your villa or on the beach.

Good for you. As my husband is fond of saying, 'this isn't a dress rehearsal'. The redundancy could turn out to be a blessing, although that may seem hard to believe now. Only tonight I was talking to a guy who is stuck in a rut with his job and would love to do something else, except the money's too good etc etc. He was saying redundancy or getting fired would give him the push he needed to get out of his comfort zone and do something more rewarding.

As you say, you need this holiday, so make the most of it, come home with a fresh outlook and something is bound to turn up.

Save some money for the fantastic Thanksgiving sales, you'll find loads of bargains.

Have a wonderful holiday and this time next year I look forward to reading how brilliant your life has become. [grouphug]

I wish you well and would probably have done the same as yourself and gone for it

As I keep telling my kids whilst we are here now, go out and enjoy it and make the most of it for what it is now as you never know when you may get the chance again

Have a fantastic time, recharge your batteries and good luck on the job front once you get back

I'm really pleased that you have decided to go. A job will turn up, maybe even before you travel, and that would be the icing on the cake. I know it seems impossible at the moment, but things will get better, and you'll look back at this time and wonder why you worried so much!

As far as Busch Gardens are concerned, we were in Florida at Thanksgiving, and it was busy for a couple of days, but Busch was quiet when we were there. I think Thanksgiving is the third Thursday in November, so that weekend was when Americans took their holiday, but the rest of the time it was quiet. If you are going for two weeks you shouldn't have a problem. Actually, it is a lovely time to visit Florida

    Have a great time!
