    Bad BA :-)

Wow, 271m GBP fines, possible class action lawsuits, surveys rating them as worst airline in Europe...not a good week for BA. And to top it all, ba.com was down for an hour yesterday [msnsad]

If we're lucky, people will stop flying on BA due to all the adverse publicity, and BA will be forced to have a sales war to get their passengers back! [clap]

The AMERICANS get a better price from BA than we do ,They are aways asking us in FLORIDA have you flown with BA and we say no DELTA they cannot understand why it is dearer for us than them .
Hope VIRGIN have teached them a lesson at last I bet FREDDIE LAKER feel good as they were awful with him for years .
Wonder where the money will go ? The only ones I feel sorry for is the crews hope they do not take it out on them .

The Treasury will get the money NOT those who have been 'over charged' in the past.

Yes, hence the class action lawsuit.

That's normal. We pay less for MUC-LHR flights because we're in Germany, than someone in the UK buying LHR-MUC flights, even though it is effectively the same flights. Companies base their fares on the prevalent rates in the market they are selling in.

I'm not sure Virgin will escape totally unscathed from this either. They are clearly just as guilty as BA, but escaped punishment due to the OFT leniency policy, but that doesn't apply to any legal proceeding or class action lawsuit. It's just funny to see BA & Virgin plotting together, given the past history of the two companies.

That’s not always the case. Anyone remember the Freddie Laker lawsuit? Back in the early 80’s on one of our very first visits to Florida we flew with Laker. Major airlines (PanAm, TWA and BA, for example) used anti-competitive practices to put him out of business and ended up getting sued. Following the lawsuit, if you had flown with Freddie Laker you were able to claim compensation providing you had proof. Fortunately I had encouraged the children to keep logbooks and diaries of their holidays and there were all our boarding passes. I can’t remember how much we got but it did pay for another trip back to Florida.

Virgin are as guilty as BA in this and only avoided similar fines due to gaining imunity for reporting it.

Absolutely - they should be very shamed of themselves too. There just is no excuse to break the law, even if you do try and avoid the consequences by shopping your long time enemy [msnmad].

Virgin were quite happy to go along with it until the time that they increased their supplement and a few months later BA hadn't done the same whereas all other changes they had both made within a few days of each other. Only when BA didnt play ball did they decide that maybe the legal team should get involved according to reports I read today.

That is also the same on EasyJet. I was looking to go to Rome for Christmas to see my sister, but for 5 of us to go there for a few days, the cheapest is £600, for her 5 to come to the UK, it is £200 [msnmad]
