Going Places also do them, but to be honest if AMEX can't make money on them (and that must be why they are being discontinued after such a short time, I would imagine others will follow suit.

I looked at it but didnt like the many charges that were on it, things like , even if you got the card free you had to pay for renewal, any money left to be refunded would be incur a charge etc and som eof the others I can't remember. As far as I was concerned it was too many/much just for the privilege of carrying MY money a different way, as it was preloaded and not a credit card.

In the same vein I wonder how long it will be, now that so many shops have stopped accepting cheques as payment, the shops decide to add on a service fee for paying by debit card?

    Hi

I used this card last year in Florida and found it brilliant, i have ordered one for Euros 5 weeks ago, i have also had two letters this morning saying the same, we will all get refunds though if you havent taken the money from the card by October. i am due to go away to Portugal in two weeks and i cant pre load my card.
This is a shame i really liked this card [msnsad]

Our daughter has just gone off to Denmark for 4 months and we got her a Club 18-30 pre-pay card as the Amex card had been discontinued. This has been a nightmare and my advice is do not touch this one. They did not activate her card so she had to telephone them £0.90 pence per minute[msnmad]Then she could not add money to her account on line again phone calls to try and sort this out. The result is she left for Denmark with her RBS bank card and left the Club 18-30 card behind as she still can't add funds to it.
