hi all, keinzley back on this wonderful forum,[msnsmile2]would love to try this restaraunt but not sure i know its expensive and posh but would love to try just once,they say men should have dinner jackets what does this mean is this just a jacket or do they mean a tux forgive my ignorance and what is it like[msnoo]what about the food is it worth it and what about the women what do they need to wear and the most important question are children allowed in.!!!!

Just a jacket is fine you don't need to wear a tux - although some men do. For women - cocktail dress is the norm. You don't need to wear a tie which always surprises me. The jacket is definitely compulsory though - our friend took his off because he was hot and was politely asked to put it back on again.
It is a great experience well worth giving it a try. Children are allowed in however I wouldn't take mine. Mainly because they wouldn't do justice to $150 worth of food - and there is no kids menu. Also they wouldn't really enjoy sitting eating for so long. There is a great kids club at the Grand Floridian where they will entertain and feed your kids while you dine at V&A.
The food is fancy. Lots of small courses rather than huge plates of food. We really enjoyed it. The desserts are fabulous. They do a veggie menu and if you eat fish but not meat you can ask to choose off both menus to get more choice (this is what my husband does).
It's well worth trying the wine pairings to go with your meal if you like wine. They have a full bar though if you prefer to drink something else.

We visited for one of our anniversaries - and the food was really excellent, as was the service. For a "special occasion" it really is a treat and well worth the expense.
We ate at V&A last March to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. It was a lovely meal and all the little extra touches made it really special (I don't want to say what they are or else it might spoil the surprises!)
There were a couple of children in the restaurant but personally I would not advise taking them especially if they are very young. Our meal lasted for about 2 and 1/2 hours and that is a long time for a small child to sit still at the table.
Geoff wore a blazer and tie and I wore my black evening trousers with a "posh" top, if that helps.

We had a lovely meal there with Rosie and Al on their Silver Wedding anniversary a couple years back. The food is lovely but the boys made comments about wanting to go to McDonalds afterwards! It is very dinky portions but beautifully presented on Wedgewood China. We were there 3 days before Christams so everybody was in their finery. I did see a guy with a tux on but I think they were at the Chefs Table that night.
I would say no to taking kids both for your dining experience and that of others. It is very subtle and peaceful and the only backgrund noise was a Harpist or was it a Pianist?
