Julie I am sorry to hear about your knee. I know exactly how you are feeling.

I am feeling quite miserable because I have planta fasciitis which is an inflammation of the ligament in the foot and we leave on Friday. I can't walk properly and I'm getting desperate. I have been told it heals itself but can take as long as a year and sometimes requires steriod injections cos of the pain. I hope by some miracle it gets better before Friday.

Hi everyone, thank you all so much for all your kind words - its sounds like I am not the only one who is suffering[grouphug][grouphug][grouphug]

Turns out the cause is cartilage damage, I have micro tears in the cartilage and acute swelling.

The physio had given me some ultra sound treatment and elctro treatment, I have to take anti inflamatory tabs, ice, rest and keep the leg up and do the exercises she has given me and go back on Tuesday. I also have to use a crutch which is making getting around a lot easier and it has a tube bandage on it too[msnsad]

I am really glad I got physio so quickly as apparently it may help speed up the healing process - fingers crossed.

Hope the rest of you who are suffering also feel better soon[grouphug]

I have made a private appointment with a physio this afternoon in the hope they can help speed up my recovery[msncry]

I am devastated, I can't believe this has happened so close to our departure date, I have everthing crossed that this will clear up enough by Thursday[msncry][msncry][msncry][msncry]

[grouphug][grouphug] for you and I hope you feel better very very soon

I too know what you are feeling. Less than 3 weeks before our first trip to Florida (which had taken 2 years of planning) I burst a disc in my spine. My doctors told me not to travel and that if I did my travel insurance would be invalidated. I was so desperate, I spend days crying my eyes out [msncry][msncry] I was determind to travel but I was in so much pain and I knew how long it could potentially take to heal. Someone that works with my DH suggested I see a Bowen Therapist. Now I had never heard of this type of therapy and when I read up on it I was sure that it wouldn't work - but I figured what did I have to lose??

After only 2 one hour sessions I was back on my feet and almost pain free. I had another session before we flew out to Florida and for all but the last 2 days of our 3 week holiday I was pain free [msnsmile2]

I called my therapist from Florida and booked another session for when I got back. Whenever my pain is unbearable or puts me out of action I give her a call - she really does work miracles.

I am not suggesting that this type of therapy works for everyone but it certainly worked for me when I was in your situation and continues to work for me when all else fails.

I really hope you get to go on your trip [grouphug]

    Elaine

Hope you get good treatment on TUESDAY and can go to FLORIDA .
I pulled my disc in my back and the doctor wanted me to take tablets .
But I went to a lady in our town and she was a sister before at our local hospital before doing a course on acupuncture She put the needles in my back .I went back 4 times and the pain went away ,Now I am careful how I bend ,lift things up and do as much exercise as can manage .
We were going on holiday so it was important that I could sit for hours on the plane but it was the best treatment, She worked with footballers and boxsers so knew her job .

Julie, do hope the knee gets better before you go. I suggest even if it is better to have a chair when you go to the Parks.

Adeline, I had that problem some years ago and the only thing that cured it was a steroid injection. It has not come back. If you do go down this route, make sure they inject into the centre of the pain. It will not work unless this is done. The first one I had the doctor ignored what I said and put it in where he thought he should. Needless to say it didn't work and I had to have another one, that worked.

What rotten luck Julie, hope you are on the mend soon, if I can get online next week I shall see how you have got on - these physios can work wonders! (And mine will be bullying me into movement on Monday!)

Thanks Jill. My GP says I have to wait and see and is reluctant to give me a steroid injection at this point - it was only diagnosed last Friday. He doesn't understand that I have a lot of walking to do - shopping and visiting the parks.

Morning all, well there is a very slight improvement in my swelling and mobility so keeping up the rest, ice, meds and little exercises the physio gave me[msnsmile]

Got a sore hand from using the crutch but who cares I just want this to improve enough by Thursday!

How are my other fellow sufferers this morning Ahagan?[grouphug]
