    Off the beaten track

Hi, We are going to Orlando for the 3rd time soon, and we have done the parks and will do again.
However, I would welcome recommendations on places to visit, things to see and things to do that are not part of the normal tourist routine.

Please let me have some thoughts.

    Thanks

    John

    Hi
    Welcome to the site.
We are visited Orlando for 8 years now and STILL have not seen it all.
We would recommend that you visit St. Petersburg and Clear Water as they are beautiful.

Hope your bookings go well for you

Why not drive up US27 to Mount Dora it's totally different from the Orlando experience a piece of old town USA. You can stop off at Lakeridge winery of your way up the 27 and take in the tour.

    We like Deleon Springs.
If you do go to Winter Park to do the scenic boat tour in Winter Park, make sure you got to the Morse Museum (closed on Mondays)

We enjoyed both Blue Spring State Park and Homassassa Springs Wildlife State Park on recent visits. We were able to see the Manatees at both parks, although you will only be able to see them at Blue Spring during the cooler months, from mid November to late March, when the manatees leave the colder waters of the St Johns River for the safety and comfort of the spring.

Hire a canoe or kayak at Wekiva Springs and take a look at Florida away from the theme parks. We also tried one of the marked walks at Lake Louisa State Park north on the 27. Took us over 2 hours and really enjoyed it. Would make a suggestion if you decide to do this - go early in the morning when it is cooler. How about the Big Cat Rescue at Tampa where they offer a permanent home for rescued and unwanted wildcats.
