Roxyfizz-Good Morning-being made redundant myself for the second time in 5 years-this time I'm 51 and using it as an opportunity to completely change my career and do something I really enjoy-although there is ia natural feeling of rejection when you're made redundant remember the adage Nils Illegitimus Carborundum- Go on holiday if you can -life's too short! I hope everything works out for you!!--

Last year for us was an absolute nightmare, due to work related stuff etc and we also had to for go our holiday

And it never rains but it pours, and you seem to get hit with one thing after another in that situation

But its suprising how things can turn around when you least expect them to, and you need to try and remain positive, and upbeat and just laugh at the bad times, and enjoy the good

Whilst you may not want to hear it , this year for us has been something a bit special for the completely the opposite reasons and therefore we are now looking forward to our trip even more in just 3 weeks

I'm sure that things will turn around for you, and it wont be long before you are once again look forward to a fantastic trip which will then be even more special

Sorry to hear the bad news, you're doing the right thing, the temptation may be to go but it is best to wait until things are more stable. 3 years ago I found out a week before going to Florida that Iwouldn't have a job to come back to, it does put a bit of a dampener on your hols. If you have a word with the tour operator perhaps they'll put your deposit on hold for a bit, probably wont work but might be worth a try.

RF - Having your life turned upside down often seems the end of the world but remember that for every negative there is a positive - perhaps that job you've hated getting up for for the last 10 years can suddenly be retraining to do something you've only ever dreamed of. If you can't managed Florida this year, spend some days out with your family enjoying each others company. After all they're what really important!

we were in a position to cancell aswell but they asked us to prospone it till next year and thats what we did and worked out better for us aswell..take it as an option [msnwink][msnsmile2]

Thank you everyone for your lovely words. Especially Albert the Frog!!!!
I really know what you mean about life being short and i usually think to myself, "You never know what is around the corner. Just go for everything if you have a chance".
However this time it could be financial stability for a few months if we leave our hol.
Hub spoke to BA (we booked with them) and they said we could transfer the money over to another package hol, but to be honest we got such a good deal £2500 for 5 of us - villa, flights and car, that we know another hol would be just as expensive!!! We did look before we booked Florida again and that is why we chose to return (and we loved it!!).
Hub also extended the hol from 2 weeks to just under 3 wks a few months ago
[msncry] so more money.They let us do this with no cost as we were extending it.
As you say, if it doesn't rain it poors.
We have had a chat as a family and the kids are all fine about not going if it comes to it. We are all upset as we so loved our first time there last yr and words cannot describe it FAB, FAB, FAB.
Will keep you updated.I do hope we have a turning point in our lives and this all works out for the best.

Hang on till last minute something may turn up, we did this a few years back as my hubbie was made redundant, we did cancel but have been since, as you say you never know whats round the corner.

Hope everything works out soon, and I think you are doing the right thing in keeping your heads and not just rushing ahead. One thing I am certain of is that you will go back there as you obviously love it as much as the rest of us. One consolation is that they are adding new attractions all the time so at least you can look forward to having an even better holiday in the fuure.(hope that makes sense 'cos it looks different written down than it does in my head[msnscared])
