    7 or 8 Seater

We have booked a 7 seater, through this site s always [msnsmile2], and have had one for the last 2 trips we have been on.
Up to now we haven't had an issue with it, only now we are beginning to wonder if we shouldn't go for the 8 seater as there will be 6 of us on this trip, possibly 7, and all the luggage that that entails.
I'm pretty sure the 7 will cope - even if we have to put luggage on someones knee for the ride to the villa - but wanted to know from anyone that might have already had an 8 seater if you do actually get any more luggage room than you would with the 7.
Also the 8 seaters look pretty boxy and basic from the outside - is this reflected on the inside - does having the extra seat take away any of the comfort and room that you have with the 7?
Would be interested to hear from anyone who has tried both and which they prefer.
    Many thanks

    Hi Kenny,
We are in Florida at the moment. For this trip we have hired a 8 seater through OV with Budget.
We have a Ford Expedition. It is extremeley comfortable and spacious, probably one of the nicest cars we have rented.
The only proplem is that with all the seats in use there is very little luggage space. However, the back seat which seats three people can be folded down completely or just one or two seats can be folded down. Another great thing is that you just press a button to fold the seats down.

We have rented 7 seaters in the past through OV with Dollar and Alamo and they have always been very comfortable too.

We have hired both 7 seater when there was 5 of us and an 8 seater when there was 7.

The 8 seater from Dollar was huge and had plenty of luggage space, if I remember we had 9 cases and 7 bags of hand luggage, plenty of room.

In fact my husband preferred the 8 seater to drive, he didn't like the 7 seater much.

When we are 7 we always have the 8 seater from Dollar, it will hold all the bags and people with space to spare.

The seat config is Front 2 middle and rear 3 (there are also aircon outlets for each group of seats) behind the last seat is a huge area that will eat the luggage.

It is very very easy to drive and park, also easy to see in any car park.

We usually hire 7 seater for 5 of us and if 6 of us we go for 8 seater. The reasonings are for luggage storage and lots of room, more comfort.

Sounds as though the 8 seater might be the better option then.
Obviously we don't intend spending too much time in the car, but we just wanted to make sure that it was comfortable and with all the mod cons, as opposed to the mini-buses that are available for hire in this country which always seem to be the most basic of models.
The downside to this of course is that Mrs Peg might see the extra boot space more as a challenge when she hits the outlets, and I'm not sure my wallet could take the double hit of the bigger car and more shopping. (Mizzy I will be relying on you to help me out here [msnscared]) - please[msnoo]

    Hi Linda

Did you have to ask for the Ford specifically or is that a standard issue if you go for the 8 seater? we have booked through Dollar so was wondering if we would get the same.
Failing that what are the chances that you could leave it on the drive for us for when we get there? I know a year is a long time for it to be stood alone but I'm sure it will be fine [msnwink]

    Hi Everyone

I hope you dont mind me jumping in here.
We went 3 years ago and are due back May 2008.
When we went we had a 8 seater(Nightmare at the Airport fitting in the baggae[V]) for 4 adults and 2 kids one of 3 & 9 months.
    My question is

Are the 8 seater now bigger then 3 years ago as we struggled to get us in 4 suit cases, carry on bags & push chair.

I have booked a 12 seater this time from this site for 5 Adults and 2 kids 4 & 8, reading the various posts I think I should go for the 8 seater as
1 it saves cost & 2 its not as big to drive

    What do you guys think[?]

    Cheers

We 5 adults and 2 children always use the 8 seater from Dollar and we have always had the Ford Expedition. This swallows all our stuff and could take more.
