    Making Memories

Having seen a post in the Photo Gallery where Brizzle has taken pics at the same place but 1 year on each time, it made me think of what we do to try and give our kids memories for when they grow up and fly the nest.
Every Christmas since our first child, Bradley, was born we have bought him a new tree ornament and wrote his name, the year and a special message on it. He has 12 up to now.
We carried this on when Taylor was born and she is on 8.
They now pick their own every year, in fact last year and the year before they got them from the Christmas shop in Downtown Disney.
Each Christmas when we put up the tree it's the first thing they look for, and when they eventually leave home they will take them with them to put on their own tree's (though I can't help thinking how bare ours will look when that happens [msnsad])
So what do you do regularly to help build the memories of the little ones??

My husband does a birthday video/DVD for me every year, it started when I was pregnant and has carried on from there, he gets the children to chat and talk about what they are going to do for Mummys birthday and its very much a fly on the wall as they don't realise the cameras are running. He then edits it and adds credits, music and graphics etc.

He also does one for each holiday and each Christmas - they are lovely keepsakes to have and look back on[msnsmile]

You could always look at it the other way. The way property prices are going at the moment children are now staying with their parents longer than they did in the past because they cannot afford homes of their own. Therefore, your tree may end up choc a bloc with ornaments cos the kids will still be with you. LOL [msnwink] [msnsmile2]

Do you want to see me cry?? Is that what you want?? [msncry][msneek][msncry]

Though if that does happen we could always move to Florida on a more permanent basis and leave the kids in the house. Wouldn't have to take them with us cos they would be old enough to look after themselves [msnsmile2]

i know what you mean Elaine and it's not just pictures and material things that bring childhood memories flooding back

i walked into my mums a few weeks ago and here she was stood at the oven with 60's music playing away, for a few minutes i was transfixed and escorted straight back to my childhood and once again it was sunday morning with mum making dinner[msnsmile] i'd totally forgot about how sundays used to be and this little reminder was a lovely surprise[grouphug]

and brizzles photos are so lovely for the children to look back on

When our Taylor was born (she is 15 this year[msneek]) I used to take lots of photos of her, every birthday especially..I even had a book cateloging each occasion/party..so it was primarily a collection of photos of her on her big day, sadly this seemed to stop at about 10 i think? Now I feel sad that I didn't continue the tradition[msnsad]
I am proud that she is the only "Taylor" at her girls school of 923 pupils though!! Phew..[msnwink]
