    O2 phones in Florida

Our family uses O2 (contracts) in the UK.
Will any of the PAYG SIM cards on sale in the USA work ?
Is it as simple as turning up to Walmart / Walgreens, buying PAYG SIM cards and slotting them in ? [:O]

Apologies if this topic has appeared before.

    Thanks.

Most of the AMerican phones do not have sim cards. But I am led to believe you can buy sim cards for T Mobile and Virgin but not sure if it will work in a O2 phone.

Your O2 phone and sim will work in the US as long as it has International roaming enabled and the phone is tri band. We use ours over there quite a bit, as long as you aren't making loads of long calls it's not expensive.

We have un-locked tri-band phones that we buy US T-Mobile sim cards for, this works out very cheap to use.

Yeah, but I'm fed up of paying stupid rates / charges. There are five of us all (logically) with 02. I am really hoping for a specific reply. I'm not prepared to use my 02 sim cards in the US. I know you can buy really cheap PAYG sim cards but I don't know if they'll work in our phones.
I would obviously have to buy two PAYG cards (to see if they work) and I dont want to shell out what may be a needless $40 if they don't work.
Walgreens are today advertising PAYG phones - not cards - for only $15.99 each. As we're going for four weeks, I'm probably better off buying a couple of these cheapo phones and a couple of cheapo PAYG sim cards to go with them.
Still - if anyone has a definitive answer to my original question, I'd be grateful.

    Thanks.

We use to have US mobile with Tracfone but the credit only last for a short space of time and the phone was like a brick to carry around. You also pay to make and receive calls and even if you are are on the phone for 1-2 seconds it still registers as i unit. We use our British mobiles for emergencies only and text each other. We also invested in some Walkie talkies from Walmart which cost us about $30 for the pair.

T-Mobile sims from the U.S. will work in your 02 phone IF it is an unlocked phone and tri-band. Simple answer.

Yes, T-Mobile works in our UK tri-band phone. I am going to get a T-Mobile sim card for my nephew for when he is over in the US working in one of the Summer Camps this year.
