If your going to buy clubs check on the internet first then if cheaper in the US buy all the gear over there - unlabled golf bags are cheap - not worth the hassle to bring someones bag. Play a round so they have been used or wack them around your own yard/backgarden.

thanks everybody, just got back from 2 weeks near southern dunes, managed to play it twice and got my 4 girls a lesson with the head pro there (kevin woodward, really nice guy and a good teacher it appeared).

Before i went i decided on what i wanted to buy by looking on the internet and comparing prices. when i got there i went to edwin watts who were great. I picked up a titleist driver (905r i think) for $150, a callaway 3 wood for $199, a wedge for $110 and a pair of footjoy "contour" shoes for $75. overall I felt i got a great deal.

I took my own clubs over leaving gaps for the driver and 3 wood. wasn't challenged at customs at all.

southern dunes was a fantastic course and well worth playing, green fees (including buggy hire) was less than $50 !

thanks for all the help and advice

    Hi

My husband and son have a set in Florida and a set here ( Each!!!!) they love playing in Florida. We have a golf bag cover with wheels which we use to go back and fowards. I always manage to put some of my shoe collection in his new golf bag.

He even orders golf clubs off e bay .com and has them delivered to the villa while we are on holiday. I would hate to think how many golf clubs we have!!!!!!

In the last 18 months I have changed my Driver (Taylor Made r7 425)
3 wood (Taylor Made r7 st) and three months ago irons (Taylor Made r7 TP) [msnsmile2]
Woods to my order, irons custom fit (loft, lie, grips, etc). All from my local pro.
They were all cheaper than I could find on internet/ ebay/Edwin Watts etc.
If you have a pro as good as ours they will always do you a great deal.[msnsmile2]

Just done a quick comparisson on Edwin Watts and American Discount in Uk and definately big savings to be made

for example on the Taylor Made woods I am considering R7

can save over £50 on the driver, and fairway woods as compared to UK price

Looks like my bag on the way out will slightly lighter and without woods, and returning with new (but used of course) ones in their place

The best way to do a comparison is to use Pricerunner (both co.uk for UK and .com for the US).

Don't be fooled into thinking Edwin Watts is the cheapest in the US and American Discount are the cheapest in the UK. Very often they're not.

And don't forget US sales tax.

I bought r7 st 3 wood and rescue from our pro for same price as 3 wood in USA[msnwink]
Tell them what price you can get and see if they can get anywhere near.
Saves any chances of problems at customs as well
He was having a Taylor Made demo day and there was some great bargains.
