    Travel Insurance

Now looking into flights with Virgin Holidays for next August. Not sure whether to use their own travel insurance or to find our own. Could anybody please recommend any good travel insurance companies that would quote so far in advance? We are a family of 5.

    Many thanks!

Definately get your own insurance. We are cheaper to get a years insurance policy than just insurance for a one off holiday and it will last if you have more than one holiday during that year. I usually go onto google and it will give you a list of all the rates and companies. Just trawl thru them to work out the best coverage and rate that suits your needs.

I don't know how Virgin travel insurance works but check it very carefully if you do intend to use it. People I have read of had an horrendous time with one travel company (I can't remember the names) they had major issues with the hotel or travel but when they checked out the small print they were not allowed to make any claim against the company or any part of the holiday firm which was covered by the same group.

You could also check out some of the comparison sites for shopping/travel/insurance.

We use Direct Travel for ours as they will insure our daughter as a student but also allow her to travel unaccompanied (many only cover the children if they are with you but not if, for example, they go on holiday witha friend or other family member. Their price is always very good.

A lot of banks (mine does Lloyds Gold Account) gives annual travel insurance for certain account types

All I then have to do is add the kids which works out so much cheaper than anywhere else only around £40 for the year

May be worth asking / looking into as an option or even upgrading your account to take advantage of this

Don't go just with price look at the amounts of coverage you get[msnsmile2]

I have an annual M & S coverage plus business travel to get extra cover for lap top[msnwink]
