Nearly all good quality Camcorders, Laptops and rechargeable camera's are rated for any voltage from 100v - 240v.

If they are not (check the label) then i wouldn't consider buying them.

With regard to the plug, just cut it off and fit a UK 3 pin instead.

Remember that camcorders come in 2 formats, PAL (UK) and NTSC (USA) make sure you get PAL so it plays back in the UK. Most of the tourists areas sell both kinds.

The Laptop will be fine, but the keyboard has a different keyboard configuration, the biggest difference been that they don't have a £ key, this is a small thing but if you want to type alot with £ signs in there it can be a pain. Yes there is a way round this where you set the keyboard to UK input, but the actual sign on the key does not match what it represents when you type it, its a minor thing but it can be annoying.

Camera's are no problem other than check the input power.

I just recently bought a Sony DSC H2, this is awesome. 6meg with 12x optical zoom and can be used as a simple point and shoot or you can control all the settings. I have some great macro shots with it. Its a definate all rounder from close up to 12 x optical zoom, giving excellent results.

Last time we were there one of our party was looking to buy a new digital camera, but after looking around Walmart and various other shopping outlets came to the conclusion that the prices actually weren't that much different to buying on-line in this country.
And when she took into account the import duty, should she be stopped when returning, decided it wasn't really worth it.

We bought a camera out there. Very pleased with price. The charger had the 2 pin blade US plug fitting. Voltage stated 90 to 240 volts, which meant it could be used in both USA and UK (with a plug adapter)
Since owning we have purchased from ebay a UK charger for it for £7.50. We now only have to take the small camera in a pocket or bag when we go back and forth to the US, as we keep a charger in each country.
