Hi Andrew,
Sorry I have to admit to knowing absolutley nothing about camping but I don't think you'll go far wrong for camping equipment at Outdoor World at the Festival Bay Mall at the north end of International Drive. The website is www.basspro.com just choose the Orlando store from the location list on the right hand side of the screen. We like to go and have a wander round, the place is amazing. We also like to watch the fly fishing demonstrations at the giant fish tank. There are product reviews on the site so it may give you some pointers as far as the best brands are concerned.
I think there is a big camping shop on the corner of the 192 and poinciana too that do everything from RV's to tents. [msnsmile2]

Thank you, Outdoor World looks terrific, and yes I do remember the place on the corner of Poinciana and the 192, I think it is called Camping World?
Andrew.
Andrew

Any campsites in the Orlando Area
My son of 5 always wanted to go camping, and ideally Florida with the better weather (maybe not the thunderstorms) would be a great place for this to happen
There are camping areas in most national parks, but remeber that these will not be Mossie treated like the residential areas, so after 5 - 6pm you are trapped in your tent. I have done this once in campsite lodgings and never again.....

Many of the Florida state parks also have campgrounds. The nearest to Orlando would be Lake Louisa. I wouldn't be put off by the mossies - take some insect spray.
They're not allowing campfires at the moment, because of the dry conditions. Propane stoves are OK.
