Back after 2 years.....Whats New to do

What about a day at DAYTONA and a ride on the beach .
Go to see the fishermen coming in at PONCE DE LEON at the end of DAYTONA .
Also there is a very large market as you ride into DAYTONA selling everythink they have it on fri /sat and sunday .
The beach at old ST CLOUD were there is a beach a marind and a new restuarant called CRABBY BILLS LOTS OF GOOD FISH MEALS AND MORE .

I would highlight the suggestion about Cypress Gardens, in my opinion this is a perfect day out for families with young children.

Thanks for the replies, Cypress gardens might be on the cards as its been recommended a couple of times.

Boggey creek might be worth a go, the only problem is my kids don't like loud noises, I guess the fan is quite loud?

Daytona might be worth a visit, but more for Nascar than the beach!

We do like eating out, as we're not going to many parks we can afford to spend more on food! any more recomendations?

In the past we've eaten at race rock (I cant believe its closed [msnsad]), dennys, the italian place and Nascar cafe at city walk + all the usual buffet places. We need places that do a kids meal (5 and 8 year old), but have a nice selection for us to choose from.

Gosh, there is just so much to do you've hardly scratched the surface Paul[msnwink]. All the above are great suggestions. You don't say how young your kids are and a lot will depend on what will hold their interest and not tire them. I suggest you also take a look at some of the guides members have written on this site. Don't forget too that tickets ordered here can be delivered to your villa.

If you want a brilliant guide book then there have been several recommendations on these forums for 'a Brit's Guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World' by Simon and Susan Veness. At least you can carry it with you when you are travelling, handy if you can't always get Internet access. It is updated every year and has become our Florida bible, we always leave the latest copy in our homes for our guests to use.

Some of the things we've liked are Cirque du Soleil, great for all ages and I can't recommend it enough.

The Peabody duck march at the Peabody Hotel on International Drive. The ducks take up residence in the lobby fountain around 11am and retire around 4.30 (check times). They arrive and leave on a red carpet accompanied by their uniformed 'duck master' with fanfare and commentry!

Fantasy of Flight at Polk City. A fascinating place, we spent far longer there than we intended. Even small children seemed to be enthralled. The daily flying display was awesome.

Mt Dora. If you want to get away from it all for a day then this quaint town is the place to go. There are excellent trips out onto the lake and canals. The scenic railway with trains running through the centre of the town is fascinating.

The swan boats in the centre of Orlando at Lake Eola Park are fun and cheap. There are some great places to eat in the nearby Church St area.

More expensive but excellent value are helicopter tours from the 192 over Disney. Well worth doing.

The town of Celebration near Old Town is also worth a visit. There are some lovely walks around the lakes with some amazing multi million $ homes. Also interesting shops, places to eat
and a cinema.

The Disney Boardwalk area is also worth a visit if you liked City Walk (free parking in the evening)and Downtown Disney. There have also been a lot of changes around the Downtown Disney area so it's probably worth revisiting.

Your only problem will be not what to do but how to fit it all in!!

Our posts must have crossed! All my suggestions should be O.K for your 5 & 8 year olds. I'm sure those with children the same age will be able to recommend loads of places to eat. It shouldn't be a problem as everywhere seems to do child meals. One place I can think of that you all might enjoy, although you've probably done it before, is the Rainforest cafe at Downtown Disney. I'm sure you'll get loads of great suggestions though.

If you like seafood (they do do other dishes) you and the kids might enjoy Joe'e Crabshack on the 192 at Celebration - the food is good and the servers often break into a dance routine - great fun!

Silver spurs rodeo is usually the second weeks in Feb and Oct-well recommended.
