Virgin Holidays Flight Blag Help

Hi again,

IF anyone has booked a virgin Holiday "Flydrive" you see that they offer you a free car with basic insurance. Has anyone just blagged the flights and not bopthered to collect the car and hire the car elsewhere?

The reason I ask is that Virgin Hollidays are offer cheaper flights than Virgin Atlantic!!

Has anyone done this?

yes we have done this as like you we found that the cost of booking flydrive flights from Virgin Holidays and then hiring a car elsewhere was cheaper than just booking flights with Virgin Atlantic - its mad but true!! We hired our car through this site and it still worked out cheaper [msnsmile][msnsmile]

Do Virgin have a policy that you HAVE to pick up the car?

If you are worried could you not cancel the car from virgin at the last moment? That way knobody is expecting you to pick up your car

We have done this for next year. We have booked the fly drive and taken the weeks free car hire but not extended it for the whole holiday or added insurance. We are going to book through this site as it works out cheaper. You don't have to take the car.

We did it last year - just never collected the car and booked the hire using this site

Have looked into Flydrive prices for our trip next year but unfortunately they are coming back at nearly £700 each [msneek] so we are going to wait and see what VA prices are like before making our decision.

we did this about a year and a half ago , they charge an independant traveller fee if you don' t take the car £30 each i think , we just did'nt collect the car , but i was a little worried because we just never picked it up but, then again we sign nothing to say we has collected the car so it was fine.good luck

Hi All - An update for you.

Just to let you know that I managed to book the flights for April next year using VH Flydrive and they came out at a great price for us all plus also they were giving an extra 5% online dicount for their May Sale!!! Bonus!!

I rang VH and asked the Rep what happens if we don't pick up the car the other end and she said "nothing!" the only thing she said is that if we booked via the phone reservations and not online, then they would have charged an extra £30 per person for not taking the extra week on the car hire (you get a week free). She said that if book online then the £30 doesn't apply..... Happy Days!!![msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

One tip to note - As there is over 10 adults in our party then we would have qualified for a group booking discount of 7% if we went through the phone reservations which you can't get online. The price of each family in our party online, still came out cheaper than the overal price of phone reservations!![msnwink]

All thats left is the car to book now!
