The problem with coca was cigarettes etc rather than normal flotsam and jetsam, but that might have changed. It was a few years ago, and it might have been a bad day. You never know who was sitting in the spot just before you arrived.

Probably the best beach I have ever been to.

I visited Coca beach about 4 years ago and it was covered in rubbish, with lots of old cigarette buts everywhere.

[/quote]As I said above, the better Gulf beaches are nicer than the Atlantic beaches.

However(declaring an interest) my place is on the beach about 10 miles south of Cocoa(near Melbourne) and the beaches are patrolled and cleaned daily. However like any tidal shoreline, it is inevitable that the surf will bring in 'Flotsam and Jetsam.

The two shorelines are very different in charachter. The Gulf is much calmer, often like a lake. The Atlantic most of the time will have small waves and often quite big waves - enough for proper surfing.

One thing is certain, either coast is in a different league to Orlando!!

Paul, Cocoa and beaches further south on the Atlantic side are just off the shipping lanes for Port Canaveral. Not only cigarettes but all sorts of rubbish, cans, plastic forks and spoons, shoes and so on each time I've been on the beach. Sometimes they even warn you about stepping on oil or tar that has washed up. Never had that problem on Gulf side.

We went to Daytona beach, very nice and clean, the only problem was my snowcone that i had there was like a brick LOL There are tons of little gift shops, some not so nice; Baby alligator/Croc heads in jars etc. It's worth the trip.

I have never been to cocoa beech, it was a toss up between that and daytona. =)
