    Thomas Exchange

    Hi
Has anyone used a company called Thomas Exchange (not Thomas Cook) for exchange TC and cash ?

They offer very very favourable rates (£1 - $1.97)today - but not sure of them as this seems to good to be true ?

Marks and Spencer are offering 1.933 today on the high st so 1.97 isn't great-I've never heard of them I must confess

Just be a little bit wary of anyone your not sure of, or who offer guaranteed rates for future months

Not saying they are bad, but would ask what security they offer should anything go wrong

After all you wouldnt give someone in the street £1000 of your hard earned money on the promise that thet would give you £1200 in 3 months time would you

and as previously said, the difference between say 1.93 (from an organisation you know) and 1.97 from one you dont, is insignificant unless you changing huge sums

its only $40 per £1000 so is it worth the risk

    Hi All

I've used them several times. They have a number of branches in London. The one I use is in the Strand very efficiaent and the best rates I've found.

I've no axe to grind here and I'm no expert (ie a has been drip under pressure -ex spurt) never mind,-- but on their web site there is no indication that they are regulated or anything. I suppose if you are swapping your pounds for dollars over a counter you might be OK but please be aware of their apparent lack of regulation if sorting anything over the phone.

Absolutely agree 100% and the point I was trying to make in my earlier post

if its not face to face or over the counter then I would be a little wary for "A Few Dollars More......." as it were

I think these people are OK to use as you get your $ there and then over the counter unlike Crown Currency who IMHO should be avoided.
