I always have a change jar and it is great when you cash it in. Saving for spending money is a real good idea and can help pay for bits and pieces when you arrive.
We used to have one but I "dipped" in it to often when the kids wanted something[msnsad]
Now that they have both left home (OK the eldest goes at the end of the month[msnwink]) perhaps I should re-instigate it[msnsmile2]

I have a big tin that has to be opened with a can opener to get the money out, I bought my Mum one to and when it was full it had almost £500 in it, mine has about £22[laugh]

Why not give yours to your Mum to look after[

I like it Jo[laugh]
Problem is though Mum is like me and it is my Dad who puts the majority of the cash in, when they had a tin you could take the lid off my Mum was always dipping in for change for the bus etc etc etc. (She as 60 at the end of last year so she can't use that excuse anymore)!

We do a similar thing with our Paypal account for all the stuff that we sell on Ebay
it is amazing how quickly it builds up, helpps you clear the old tut laying around the house that you no longer have a use for or need, although it also makes you become a bit of an Ebay addict, selling almost anything you can get your hands on once the funds start to roll in
I save all my earning from running my Slimming World group every week, its not a fortune but I saved enough to almost pay for the villa so far[msnsmile2]
