I rang Brighthouse customer service yesterday to ask them to change the mailing address on my bill.
The Woman who answered asked for my name, and the account number. That's O.K. I know that. Then she asked for my social security number. I don't have one as I am a foreign national who only visits the U.S. when I can. Then she asked what my passport number was. That's O.K. I know that. She asked me what the current mailing address is. Don't you have my account details in front of you? I asked. Yes I do she replied. Then you will know what the current billing address is? Who is going to pay the bill if you change the mailing address? she asked. " I will." I said. Who are you she asked. "I've already told you my name and it appears on the bill" "Are you the ...... management company.? she asked. " No. I'm me"
What mailing address do you want on the bill? I told her the house number and street name. What Town is that? "Bridgend." I replied. What State is that? Bridgend I replied again. The Town and the state have the same name. (Bridgend is a unitary local authority in Wales) Like New York, New York. I thought she might understand that, I was wrong.
Aaah she said "Bridgend New York New York." I just want to change the mailing address on the bill. " I'll put you through to the commercial section." she said
