I am not really a beach type of person, I much prefer a pool and sundeck, but I must admit Cocoa beach is lovely. I cannot comment on a lot of the others mentioned as I have not been myself but I didnt care for Daytona much.

Clearwater for us, for a beach that is close to Orlando, we love it. Places to eat would include Reno's and Gondoliers. Excellent value for money and great food.

Clearwater beach is great, clean, sandy and the most beautiful sunsets, very romantic. A trip on the Little Toot to see the dolphins just finishes the day.[msnsmile2]

Hi
We love Madeira Beach or Reddington Beach both are white sandy beaches quiet and unspoilt plus you get to see the most beautiful sunsets. There is a trolley bus goes up as far as Clearwater and down to St Johns Pass which is very popular on an evening which little shops and very nice restraunts also you can hire jet skis,go fishing or parasail from here.
We like to eat at Shells or Lobster Pot in Reddington Beach or Leatherbacks in Madeira Beach.
Hope this helps
We love Siesta Key Beach down near Sarasota, may be a bit to far for a day out, but well worth visiting.
