We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Silver Springs a couple of years ago.
The glass bottom boat rides are fascinating - but there are loads of other things to see and do too!

Silver Springs is a lovely park. Not like the others. Plenty to see and do and the wildlife is amazing.

You're going in February, so a trip north to the Blue Spring State Park to see the manatees would be a lovely day out. You can stroll along the Boardwalk and also take a 2 hour boat ride along the St. John's river. If you take the 1pm to 3pm boat trip then you'll likely get the best of the sun too. We saw some amazing sights when we visited. I would highly recommend it.

We enjoyed ourselves so much at Blue Spring State Park that we wrote a couple of articles about this amazing place for the Orlando Villas Florida guide.

We went to Blue Springs this February. The boat ride was great, the drivers were so knowledgeable and it was so good to see the manatees in their natural environment. We did the morning cruise, then went to Mount Dora for a wonder round the little gift and antique shops and a fantastc lunch!

I think they would like Winter Park , Bok Sanctuary , DeLeon Springs, Blue Springs as well as Silver Springs.
I bet they would also enjoy one the wonderful afternoon teas from a resoert. I can recommend The Grand Floridian , The Peabody or, if you go on a Sunday, then the Ritz Carlton.

Lake Louisa State Park is worth a visit. It's easy to find too - just a few miles north of the Sr27 junction at the western end of the 192. We really enjoyed a day there, walking the nature trail and just enjoying the beautiful scenery and peaceful location.

To be honest, we thought that Silver Springs was one of the most boring places on Earth, and definitely not worth the long drive to get there for a couple of hours...[msnsad]

Other than the flat-bottomed boats we didn't really think there was much there last time we went, all though it was a few years ago now. If you do go, I'd recommend you take some mosquito wipes or spray as I was bitten to death. This is down to the fact that there's lots of water and trees. [msneek]
