    Not sure I understand......

Have been reading the Brits Guide to Orlando and WDW.

There is a little tip in it that I'm a little confused about.

    It reads:-

" For your journey to USA use a business address rather than your home address on all your luggage. It is less conspicuous and safer should any item be stolen or misplaced"

    ??????
    Am I being stupid?

Basically I think they are saying don't put your home address on your luggage labels for departure.
THis is because someone at the airport could see your home address and know that your house is going to be empty for a week at least.
Personally I don't put any addresses on my luggage just a name. The luggage is all tageed at the airport. If it doesn't arrive you have the tracking slips and can then give the airport staff the address you want the luggage forwarded to.
If you have a common bag it is best to mark it with your name or something personal so that you can tell it apart form all the others.

We never put our address on the labels. I put a work telephone number or mobile and our name.

To be honest I don't think we label our luggage with anything, other than the tags that the carrier put on them. We rarely lock cases either, we don't carry anything valuable mind you. I do notice the majority of cases when they come on to the luggage thingy (name escapes me[msnembarrased]) are black still? Ours are quite distinctive...we can see them from a mile away[msnwink]

The normal advice is to put your name and address IN the case. I would only ever put the address to which I am going on the luggage label and certainly not have my home address on the outside of the bag when traveling outbound on holiday. It all helps with peace of mind and helps us to enjoy our trip even more!

We always put postcde, door number and mobile phone no on our cases. I have also taken to putting a large sheet inside (the case has a mesh pocket visible when opened with contact details since I saw how BA auction off cases that are "unclaimed, (although it's actually LOST by them), they break open th cases and if they cant identify owner, take out the valuables and auction them separately and the rest gets bagged up and sold for between £5and £15 including suitcase. The paper had a report recently and showed some of the bargains they had picked up, si theres no excuse for them not knowing who it belongs to should the outer tags come off.

We never label our luggage either and as they are securely tagged anyway at the airport i'm not worried, we have had them go missing once when we returned home last year and they were delivered to our home address the next day

We just have some very bright tags we got in Walmart to help spot the cases. They only have name and moblie number on them.
