Gosh you learn something everyday, thanks for that Patty. However, some of the oat products are in the gluten free area which is puzzling. I get crippling pains in the abdomen if I have too much wheat and if I steer clear and stick to oat based products I have had no problems when out in the US.

    Fiona,
If the product says gluten free, than it's fine! You can buy gluten free oats here in the U.S., but I just wanted to point out that even though coeliacs may be able to eat regular oats in the UK, they can't in the U.S. - they would need to find oats that are specifically labeled gluten free.

We have always found Disney to be super particularly on the character dining. At Cinderellas's castle chef came out to speak to us and she could have anything on the menu in a gf form. She decided to have the pasta and she said is was lovely. At the character breakfast (I think at AK but not sure) they told her everything she could have from the buffet and made gf pancakes too - mickey ear pancakes[clap] Whenever we have done this we have advised at the time of booking and then reiterated when we've gone in to be on the safe side.

We normally take gluten free bread and pittas with us to be on the safe side.

Publix have gluten free sauces etc and gluten free pasta.

Disney are very good with special diets but you normally have to phone in advance and if you are dining buffet style you have to watch out for cross contamination ie someone who is not allergic to wheat etc may use same tongs for something that contains wheat and then a non-wheat product.

Carrabbas, The Outback, Fishbones etc all have gluten free menus that have quite a good variation. However, I would advise caution with The Olive Garden as they claimed to have gluten free but the meal they served contained flour [msnmad]
