There are companies which will rent out and deliver/collect to your rental home in the area. Scooters, electric and mechanical wheelchairs are available for rental.
Two companies are http://scootaround.com and http://www.walkermobility.com and you can order and pay over the internet.
If you use a mechanical wheelchair at home, most airlines will carry these free of charge in the cargo hold if you give them enough notice. You can also take your own electric wheelchair with you but need to discuss this with the airline some time in advance because of the different rules each airline has about transporting the batteries.
