    Flights, Book Early or Wait?

We are planning a 14 Day Trip to Orlando July/August time. As this is School Holiday time the prices are very high. I was just wondering if it's best to book now to make sure we get places or wait until the last minute in the hope of getting a cheaper deal due to cancellations.

    Any advice gratefully received

It really depends on how many of you are going, and if you can alter your dates if you don't find the exact date you wanted to do in the first place.

I have done both really late bookings and early bookings. When I travel at Christmas I tend to book well in advance to avoid not being able to go on my specified dates, but we have also booked the latest 24 hours before we go, but to me it didn't really matter if we went or not.

If you are rigid with your dates, it would be best to get them now.

I agree with Ceri if you have set dates then I would book
We have booked 10 months in advance, other times 7 days before departure
We are lucky we are flexible regarding dates a few days either way doesn't
    make any difference
Good luck hope you get a good deal [msnsmile2]

We always tend to book early as it relieves some of the pressure of worrying whether or not we will get a flight for the days we want. We have also found that if you book the flights when they are first available they tend to be cheaper than if you were to wait - but having said that there will normally be sale periods throughout the year - between xmas and new year being the first to spring to mind. When I was checking throughout the year last year I found that the price differences were sometimes £200+ for flying out on the same dates. I suppose the question is "What price peace of mind"

My regular travel agents tells me the cheapest flights, at peak time are those booked the earliest. Whether this is a sale pitch or not I don't know.

JJ, I think it depends on how many of you are travelling, if there are only 2 of you then I would wait and pick up a late deal with someone like Thompsonfly, who do reduce their prices nearer the time, but if you have kids then I would book as early as possible, just to be on the safe side!

I would book now as I've found that during busy times they sell the cheap seats first and once they're gone prices only go up. There are no late bargains to be had as demand is so high.
