    Little flags on the Kerb

    Daft question I know.

Can anyone tell me exactly what those little flags on the end of what seems to be steel spikes relate to.

Every time we go we mean to ask about them then forget. They seem to be on almost every roadside verge.

    Cheers.

Some show boundaries, some are to mark water pipes, cables etc. etc..[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

I am so glad you asked that Nigel. I have often sat at traffic lights while on holiday and wondered what they were for!!!

There seem to be so many on the 192.

You often see them where they are about to start new work or have just done new work for cable companies etc.

Basically they are warning flags. If any excavation is scheduled the relevant authority will mark the place where their pipes or cables are. Blue flags denote water and orange cable.

Well, you learn something new every day. Even in our new villa I did not know what they were for. There again, there were quite a few of different colours. Now I know the main ones at least.

There are also green and other colored ones for grass/sod treatments, each indication what has been sprayed or sprinkled

They are put in the ground by specialist companies that contractors have to call prior to any work.
