We went for the first time in Sept and loved it!!
We were very apprehensive having always travelled west to the US for hols but the hotel was great, we stayed at The Palm tree Court at Jebel Ali and the standard of everything was ultra luxurious.
Can't wait to go back, you can't compare it to Florida hols as it's so different, but if you are looking for a change why not try it?

Thank you to all who replied. There is a lot of info for me to sort through. It sounds like it could be a very relaxing holiday. The point about making it only a week's stay I think is about right. I would not want to get bored and realise that it does not have all the attractions of Florida. We are hoping to be out in Florida again towards the end of the year, so wouldn't mind a very relaxing time before in Dubai. Will let you all know if we decide to go and where we stay.

Thanks for the link to the villa Roger/Caroline. I had seen this one on the internet previously and agree that it does look good. I see they are quite booked already, so I assume that speaks for itself!

Makes a Florida rental home seem inexpensive in comparison despite the fact that most Florida homes have more facilities.

I went last March, we stayed about an hour outside of Dubai, shopping is fantastic, we rented a taxi for well over 12 hours to take us and bring us back from Dubai for £15 each, he drove us round all the places we wanted to see and even carried our shopping to the taxi! We had dinner one evening at the Burj which was a great experience, got to dress up and look glam (you have to book well in advance, you arent able to access the hotel unless you are a guest or have a table reserved). I would definatly go again.

We went 2 years ago and stayed for 2 weeks. This was far too long and to be honest the kids were getting well bored. We stayed in an apartment in the centre and that was great. It was near to loads of shops and restaurants that were really good value and not expensive to eat in like some of the hotels at the beach. Taxis very cheap. There's also Karama market near the centre where you can get all your fake handbags, clothes etc.

    Hi Francine.
What a place, It is magnificent.
We have been going every year, since 1992.
Be prepared for the heat( Oct-April.coolest.)
We stay in Jumeirah, hotels and service are second to none, In fact our Daughter was Married there in a Anglican ceremony.
You must go if you have the opportunity. We love it.
