Had an Email from Virgin today asking for the extra £20 P/P departure tax to be paid in advance.
Looks like the airlines are now collecting for Mr Brown[gun]

We received the same email

Had the same e-mail yesterday for my flights in February and I have paid using their on-line system. £20 per person for economy and £40 per person for Premium Economy and Upper Class.
I think if you pay online and present your receipt at the airport when you check in, they give you a voucher for the amount to use against your next booking.

Due to fly on the 2nd Feb and not had the email yet - will have to wait and see what happens
We had our e-mail yesterday - typical, the very first time ever that we manage to book premium economy one way and now we have to pay double the extra tax [msnscared] Oh well, a trip to Florida is always worth it.
It would be good if what you say is right, Liesel - where did you hear about it?
Lesley
It was in the e-mail that we received yesterday:
'Virgin Atlantic believes this is one tax that shouldn't leave you out of pocket, so if you pay in advance online we're offering you £20 off your next Economy flight or £40 off your next Premium Economy or Upper Class flight when you book direct with Virgin Atlantic through one of our reservation centres. You will receive this voucher, complete with Terms & Conditions, at the airport when you show your email payment receipt.'
I am not sure if this is per person or just the lead person gets this voucher. I am just hoping the voucher will last until next year as we only booked our August's flights on Wednesday evening last week.

Hi Lesley
If you are only in PE one-way, might Virgin change the reservation so that the PE segment is on the way back? You wouldn't have to pay the tax in that case.
Just a thought.
