My parents are visiting New York for the first time in April. Which area should they be looking to stay?
We can search for a place to stay once we've decided on the location.
Thank you

Mid town is great for being central near Times Square we stayed in the Hilton Times Square last easter, lovely big clean rooms, 34th street and Macys etc but its also nice to be up by the park on 57th street, and there is the Sheraton Hotel and Towers on 7th between 52nd and 53rd street which is one of the hotels we used to stay in[msnwink]
I'd agree that Midtown Manhattan is the best area to be for all the sights and activities. New York hotel rates have rocketed over the last year or so and it's hard to find bargains these days, particularly in midtown. If you want to save money, have a look at Downtown (financial district) hotels at weekends when the businesspeople are elsewhere.
You can try w w w . l a t e r o o m s . c o m we have used them many times and they are very good[msnwink]
Ahhh - you guys must have read my mind as I was about to post for the same info as we are planning a road trip for August starting in New York.
Thanks for the info [clap]

We always stay at the belvedere hotel just off Times Square, allways been really pleased with the accomodation, if you check on Tripadvisor .com you will find lots of really good reports about the hotel, we are there again in march!
Times Square is a realy good location near the theatres and restaurants for on a night. We stayed overlooking Central Park but that was because a Neil was running the New York Marathon and we found that to be a good location. They will have a great time we would love to go back but we always seem to head straight for Florida now.

We stayed in the New York Helmsley a few months ago - about a 10 minute walk from Times Square.
Its very close to he United Nations which is one of the stops for the circular tour buses (well worth doing.)

My wife and son went for a short trip last year and stayed in the Waldorf. They thought it was great and would recommend it to anyone. I've stayed in the Barclay Intercontinental a couple of times and it's excellent. Both are in good positions as well.

My daughter was there in October. She stayed in the Radio City apartments, which she found to be basic, but spotless and a good size - even the studio that she had. The location was v. good, handy for all attractions and the 'hop on - hop off' bus service. She recommends them and would certainly use them again. She had the most wonderful time in NY. We cant wait to go ourselves. Chloe
